(11,619 posts)At this point, the Tea Party Caucus is the angry mob chasing his orange ass.
He will only stop it if he can find an angry mob that is running a different direction.
I won't hold my breath. I think we will go over the cliff.

(18,634 posts)They seem to have enough votes from Dems and a few Repubs to start-up again.
If they have enough votes to end the shut-down I'm sure those same votes would be good to raise the ceiling.
It all comes down to whether he allows a vote.

With all the richest men in the world knowing one person is responsible for their fortunes declining I would think that even though Silk Road is gone, there might be some hit men who would be able to score big soon after.

(62,444 posts)There are enough "not insane" GOP votes which, combined with the D votes, make it a simple thing to do.
The only thing stopping him is that if he does so, then he might lose his gavel.

(36,286 posts)what happens if he ends the shut-down, only to be thrown out of the Speaker's chair? Can a new Speaker be elected in time to get the debt ceiling raised, and would the new Speaker be willing to do that?
"To be elected as Speaker, a candidate must receive an absolute majority of all votes cast for individuals, i.e. excluding those who abstain. If no candidate wins such a majority, then the roll call is repeated until a Speaker is elected. The last time repeated votes were required was in 1923, when the Speaker was elected on the ninth ballot"

(22,876 posts)That is where courage of your convictions come into play..but again.. if he would stand up..there is a hard core of them..but you can back bullies down, . there is nothing we can do to help Boehner out of this mess.. It is one of his own choosing.

(86,615 posts)his skewed sense of self worth. Eugene Robinson said, last night, that Boner has been a failure in the House for most of his career and that this is his probable last hurrah and he desperately wants to be "somebody". It would seem that losing his job would be a hangin' offense in his polluted brain so he can't do the right thing for the country because he won't appear to be a "good guy" in the history books... you know, the revisionist ones.
What a simpleton!
Yo, voters in Ohio, get some Independents to run for office if you think the D name is too much for the R voters to swallow! Get him out of our government... and that goes for the rest of that crowd of country crashing shills! They are dangerous to every living thing on the planet.
