Related: About this forumRepublican shutdown logic applied to baseball playoffs
http://hardballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/10/08/applying-government-shutdown-logic-to-the-baseball-playoffs/an Atlanta Braves fan writes to his Republican congressman, applying shutdown logic to suggest the obvious solution to Braves' Oct 7 loss to Dodgers. .letter is very witty, and presumably written by a Dem;recommended for temporary relief of shutdown-anxiety. Here's an excerpt, but see the url for full version.
. . Like you, I'm sure, I am profoundly disappointed that the Atlanta Braves lost the NLDS last night. And to the Dodgers - a bunch of California liberals!
This outrage cannot be allowed to stand. But the system has failed us. We tried to resolve this issue through traditional means: In last night's game alone, we must have sent batters to the plate 40 times. But just because we couldn't score enough runs, the Dodgers refuse to relinquish the title -- and worse, they won't even discuss it. .

This whole situation is really upsetting me.
Thanks to the crazy-Republican-caucus in Congress, we seem to be lurching our way ever closer and closer to a real constitutional (as well as fiscal) crisis.

The idiot congresscritter in question responded to this letter http://talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/gop-rep-responds-to-atlanta-braves-fan-s-saracastic-shutdown-letter
On Wednesday, Kingston responded with a letter that acknowledged Kaplan's sarcasm
"I agree with you that Republicans and the Braves have much in common," Kingston wrote, according to Fox Sports. "You could say that the Republicans Bravely take on tough issues such as defunding Obamacare and trying to curtail runaway spending. And we dont mind clearing the dugout for a good brawl. We also agree that Dodgers is a fitting name for the Democrats as they often Dodge serious issues such as balancing the budget or cutting spending."
Not surprising, but also not impressive.
