Prediction: Sunday will be all doom and gloom - they will be aiming at the markets.


There is no easy way out for the House Republicans and the only life raft left is that the market wakes up Monday morning scared and rushing for the exits.

I think you're right that the sane wing of the republican party is probably desperate to manufacture any way out of the corner they've painted themselves into, but the insane wing seems to be in de facto control, and they're gloating and congratulating themselves for having painted everyone else OUT of their corner. I think they actually believe that they're "winning," in some twisted parallel universe where self immolation will teach the bastards not to mess with THEM, by damn.

It'll be a fun morning if there's no indication of any sort of deal. Thursday and Friday were both good days, so there's a lot of profit people are sitting on over the weekend that they'll be very nervous about seeing evaporate if what appeared to be getting worked out by Friday afternoon is gone by Monday morning. Which, so far, seems to be the case.
