RNC tells folks to go to polls on 'Tuesday' - election is on Wednesday

RNC Urges Voters To Get To The Polls On Tuesday For Special Election Taking Place Wednesday

The Republican National Committee had a big mix-up Monday when it urged readers to get out and vote in the New Jersey special election for Senate on Tuesday -- an election that's not taking place until Wednesday.

I always thought them getting election dates wrong on their correspondence was malicious, but now I wonder if it really is just incompetence.

If they are able to facilitate a low voter turnout, won't that be to their benefit? Of course if they were really smart, they would have advertised that the election was on Thursday, not Tuesday.

So, I don't see what putting out the wrong info would do other than hurt their own folks.

why we only have one day for voting. Why not have a week of voting, I know the GOP would hate that but early voting, absentee voting, and a week or 2 of voting would guarantee more participation in the election process.

Human nature.

A more serious answer is the senior citizens and other volunteers that run the elections for pennies wouldn't be able to devote (heh) that much time to it. Multiple people in charge of the election would lead to hijinks.
