looking for love in all the wrong places

we are so focused on the presidency and the congress, we are conceding the seat of
true power - the state legislatures. we can win the federal offices, but the states can pass
laws undoing most of our efforts and cause the most harm to the most vulnerable. these
red state legislators sell out for kochroach chump change. and the governors just want
to end up anywhere cushie and semi important

we must find effective ways to start challenging school boards, mayor and city council
races, and support and fund credible candidates for all state positions. the limpuglicants
took the long game, and we need to beat them at it. starting now.

local democratic organizations in red states are demoralized, understaffed and severely
underfunded. the offices are dreary and empty. it's not because there are no democrats
in these places. it's because there is no outreach, no viable candidates, and no hope. egad
just exposing the ineptitude and ignorance of some of these local limpuglicant candidates
should be enough, if just having a D after a name didn't garner such a brainwashed knee jerk
reaction.

I believe its our time. the wingnuts have been wounded. and their true end game and bag
men have been exposed. we must breakthrough to the true believers. and the only way
to do that I think it's time to reinstate the fairness doctorine with special attention to declare
blatant lies, and misleading broadcasting and industry paid "advisers who present themselves
as experts, to be procecuted as the fraud it is. can you imagine
how powerful cutting thru. exposing and even watching the likes of fauxnoose talking heads and
maybe even limpballs being charged. even for a minute. just the drama of it.

That can draw a diverse group, who are statesmen. Not people like Grayson, that doesn't work locally.

I was running for the open County Mayor seat and a highly qualified woman, experienced lawyer, was running for the open State Representative seat.

The former Chair of the State Democratic Party gave the maximum campaign donation, ($2,000) to each of our opponents. When I found out, I called his office and asked for a meeting but he refused to meet with me and said he was supporting my Republican opponent. I contacted the current State Party Chair and asked how they could still allow him to serve on the State Executive Committee, etc. I was told "that's just how it is, here".

If he felt a need to support our opponents for business reasons, he could've made a similar contribution to our campaigns. After all, he's supposedly a Democrat. And his support of our opponents was used against us in the campaign. "Even the former State Democratic Party Chair supports the Republican in these races."

And both she and I were legitimate candidates with stellar business and legal credentials and excellent reputations. We were both strong public speakers and campaigners. And yet, we got no support from the state party and members of the state party were actively supporting the Republican candidates.

Don't get me wrong, these were both tough races but we each had a chance until he and others became our opponents. We both got more votes than any Democrat had received here in decades. What's frustrating was being hobbled by "our own people".

certainly understand the self interest motive, but these slimeballs need to be outed and publicly drummed
out of the party. they certainly should not be allowed to hold any position in the party.

i'm afraid you're far nicer about it than I would have been, but I understand that its a total uphill
battle. the national democratic party leadership is a huge part of the problem. you have to question what exactly
they exist to do and for whom.

here in Indiana there is no support coming from the national level. our dems in the legislature
walked out for 6 weeks to hold up alec legislation and got stuck with fines and expenses, with nothing
forthcoming from the national party. they are demoralized.

I have called the local party office repeatedly and get a recording. when I leave a message
there is never a reply.

hope you try again. we certainly need a 1000 like you.
