Overpasses for Obamas Impeachment has been in the news a lotrallying against that Muslim Socialist Kenyan keeping Ted Cruzs seat warm. They have been unified in this effort. This awe-inspiring concerted effort to oust the black guy was founded by James Neighbors.
James has been collecting donations for the movement since it was founded through a gofundme account, which has been taken down. Why, you ask? Well, because James seems to have drained money from the account for personal useprompting the resignation of at least two members of national leadership to date, Ann Whitten and Rick Halle.
(Now) Former Overpasses WV leader CJ Ross sums up the situation:
The reason Im doing this tonight is to at least summarize the events that have transpired this week that have lead me to this point. Ill be as brief and descriptive as possible and any questions you have I will try to answer the best I can if you private message me on my personal page. Feel free to request me as a friend to do so.
Late last week I was made aware of some events that had taken place amongst our national leadership involving donated funds to the movement. I do not know anyone personally who donated from our state group, but there are many from across the country. At some point as the result of an injury sustained at work, our founder, James Neighbors stopped receiving workers comp payments and took donated money to pay personal bills. He has promised to repay this money once his payments are reinstated. A lot happened in the ensuing chaos as word got out amongst leaders. Im not going to argue the legality or illegality of his actions as I have seen arguments to both sides. Neither I, nor anyone else in Wv that Ive found has been directly affected by this. I refuse to take sides in this argument as I see it to be an enormous distraction to our ultimate mission. Several leaders from all levels have now resigned their positions because of disagreements over this event. Ive witnessed some of the most horrible behavior by grown adults in this time. Entire threads have devolved into complete chaos and slander of people who are supposed to be on the same team.
It is because of this that I am resigning as the leader of Overpasses-Wv. I feel that I can be of more use to you all in a clean, focused environment. So, as of tomorrow we will create West Virginians for Liberty to continue our fight. Nothing will change. We will still protest and go after political corruption of all forms in any party. Now it is up to you whether you want to remain here, or to join with us. Either way, Ive counted all of you as my own family. That includes James Neighbors, right or wrong. We are all brothers and sisters in the same cause and I will continue fighting for every last one of you. If you wish to join us at WVfL then please take the opportunity to request me as a friend and the link will be posted as soon as possible. Thank you for your time and effort and Ill see you all out there.
Ann Whitten, a (now) former member of the groups national leadership explains:
Yes, it would hurt the group if it got national attention, would it not? After all, the leader of a movement supposedly fighting against corruption is just as corrupt as those he claims to be fighting. Its OK, though, as he promises to pay it back.
James responded to allegations through the Overpasses Facebook page:
Gee, James took money from a central organization in a time of purported need? Sounds a lot like Socialism! Keep in mind herehis Workers Comp is no longer being paid because he was deemed fit to return to work. Could it be that he is attempting to scam the government (his employer) out of more money while he plays Grand Marshal to a bunch of uneducated racist twits?
According to Josh Barry, who now claims that national leadership knew about the loan, the leader of the movement HAS to be unemployed, dedicating 8-10 hours a day to the cause:
So, we must ask the question: How far will James go to stay at the reigns? How far will his sheep follow him into oblivion? Is Overpasses simply a clever self-aggrandization effort on James part? Given that he is fighting his Workers Compensation loss rather than returning to workas he has been deemed medically fit to doand has just lightened his organizations coffers for personal benefit, it seems this is the case.
It should be noted that Overpasses for Obamas Impeachment has not filed for a tax status (though Mr. Neighbors is now discussing it,) which means that all donations must be reported and taxed. It was also stated nowhere that money would be taken for personal use.
James refuses to quit, though, and is rather unapologeticeven after being caught red-handed stealing from his own organization!
We will have more on this story as it develops.

(4,757 posts)great read. Just finished it. They have billion dollar sugar daddies ready to pour money all over the place to "catapult the propaganda".
But paying their workers good wages? Not so much.

(1,077 posts)I appreciated the information re leader of the of the impeachment movement. At the risk of offending those in the impeachment movement, the President has done more for diversity than any President lately. The President was raised by grandparents who were directly involved in the WWII effort and lived in Hawaii. Where did WWII start for these United States? The person, Barack Obama, is representative of the American Dream. What these guys have a problem with is he doesn't look like them.
