CAITLIN MACNEAL JANUARY 13, 2014, 11:05 AM EST
Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) is not a serious threat to Sen. Mark Begich (D-AK) in the 2014 senate race because she is so "disconnected" from the state, the incumbent told the Huffington Post in an interview published Monday.
"She would be a formidable opponent in the Republican [primary], but I have no worry or fear of her," Begich told the Huffington Post. "I think she is so disconnected from Alaska now that I'm not sure she even knows what's going on."
Begich isn't positive Palin is a resident of Alaska anymore. "I'm not even sure if she still lives in the state," he said.
Begich faces an uphill battle in his re-election campaign -- he has already been hit with multiple conservative attack ads and has multiple Republican challengers.

(25,253 posts)just inviting her to get involved somehow. We all know that she can't keep her mouth shut or stop from incorporating herself in any controversy where she can get some press.
It will be interesting to see if she comments on Begich's statements to Huff Post and what she'll say.
Not sure if it was smart on Begich to take her on.

(31,849 posts)has anyone done any recent favorability polling on $I$ter $arah in Alaska?
It would be good strategy to goad a highly gaffe-prone, narcissitic, but unpopular opponent into a race.

(19,348 posts)60% of Alaskans have an unfavorable opinion of her. Just ask Linda McMahon how a 60% unfavorable rating worked out for her.
