(13,190 posts)Walker is toxic but as the old saying you got to beat somebody with somebody. The voters in that state are stupid if you look at this poll most people polled believe Wisconsin is headed in the right direction REALLY!!! The National Democratic Party seem more interested in picking mostly woman to run for 2014 offices around the country than getting the best progressive person.http://www.jsonline.com/news/statepolitics/first-wisconsin-governor-2014-poll-scott-walker-47-mary-burke-41-b99192637z1-242247491.html

(53,475 posts)I suppose that might be considered a "win", but I'd rather see Walker win, then have to leave office and head for prison, poisoning the Republican brand in the process.
Burke's policy positions are doing nothing to inspire voters in Wisconsin. She's phoning in her campaign (literally) and is on record as supporting benefit cuts for State workers, charter schools and pretty much everything else progressive Wisconsinites hold dear.
Additionally, her history of sending Wisconsin jobs to China (when running Trek bicycyle) leads one to conclude that she was picked specifically to lose. This will be THE campaign issue in the race. Count on it.

(473 posts)She at least supports expanding Medicaid, unlike walker. She also is against the mine projects that were allowed by walker as well.
Don't forget, under walker's regime, Wisconsin fell to 44th in job creation. Mary's campaign will probably point that out.
This isn't about picking out the lesser of two evils, but getting the most of what we want.

(53,475 posts).... Only when I pressured her directly, asking if there were any circumstances in which she could see it as a good thing for Wisconsin did she say "no".
You're correct about the Medicaid money, and that is a huge issue, and why she'll get my vote if she's our candidate.
As for jobs, this is not an issue where she'll win voters. She has no plan (yet) and a track record that will be the focus of the campaign against her.
"Most of what we want"? Certainly not. Not even close. In fact, there's very little there for any of us except the Medicaid money.

(473 posts)Looks like she does care about American jobs.

(53,475 posts)She'll have no influence over TPP, so it's easy for her to be against it.

Yeah, she may not be perfect, but this has national implications.
If Walker gets taken out, the GOP will be debating over whether or not to nominate Aqua Buddha, Big Gulp, Mr. Shutdown, Uncle Sugar, or "I don't know that guy - he's not my brother".
How's that not worth it?

(429 posts)Still think he's stronger than someone like Paul or Cruz though.
As much as I dislike Hillary Clinton...she has a habit of getting under the skin of smug assholes while coming off clean.
Scott Walker running against Hillary will end the moment he gets on a stage with her and she goads him into a Rick Lazio moment.
