SAHIL KAPUR FEBRUARY 19, 2014, 10:01 AM EST
Überconservative Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) is launching a new political action committee to fight back against a "war against conservatives" waged by "the mainstream" and abetted at times by the Republican establishment, he told the Daily Caller.
GOH Conservative PAC, as it's reportedly called, will be modeled on the Jim DeMint-founded Senate Conservatives Fund, which often angers GOP leaders by whipping up the tea party base against their initiatives.
The congressman told the conservative media outlet that the PAC "defends conservative Republicans from the attacks that come from the mainstream," lamenting that in some races, "we've had leadership come and play and there was no counterbalance. So I'm going to do something about it."
"There's a war against the tea party. There's a war against conservatives, we're told," he added. "If somebody declares war on me I'm not just going to lie down and take it. Im going to fight."

(70,504 posts)How did he get into and pass law school? How did Gohmert pass the bar
and become a sitting judge? He is dumber then a bag of lug nuts.
A war on conservatives???? Look @ the Sunday morning news shows.
You can go across the country and hear non stop "right wing hate talk."
Ohio voted for Obama and Sen. Brown won his race by 7 points but
only 4 of our 16 House members are democratic.

(145,242 posts)Glenn Beck approached Louie about running against Cornyn and Louie passed because he did not think that he could raise sufficient funds to be competitive. I doubt that Louie will be able to raise significant funds. The major GOP donors are going to run away from Louie

Shame on you, Texas!!!
God forbid that we should ever send people like Barbara Jordan, the Castro brothers or Cecile Richards to Washington......

(54,379 posts)There are plenty of decent "exceptions" in Texas, even if it's PC these days to ignore them.
Sort of like when Bill Maher notes with satisfaction that when he plays Birmingham, Alabama, it's a sellout every time.

(54,379 posts)He seeks to conserve nothing. He is just another insecure right wing fanatic control freak.
He wouldn't know a conservative if he ran one over with his car in broad daylight.
He hijacks the label for political convenience and conformity, but that's like wading knee-deep into the sea and claiming you're a fish.

"A liberal"
A socialist?
"A socialist"
A communist?
"A communist"
An anarchist?
"An anarchist"
But then we get to the other side and what they say about themselves:
Guys like George Will?
"A conservative"
John McCain or Mitt Romney?
"Conservatives"
Ted Nugent and his fans?
"Conservatives"
Tea Parties?
"Conservatives" (Even though they sometimes don't consider other Republicans to be conservative enough)
Remember when the DHS made that report about right wing extremists and every conservative thought they were the ones being targeted? I think that's the reason why. As long as you have the mantle of 'conservative' in the eyes of other conservatives, you can't be extreme, crazy, or not credible to them, hence they give us people like Ted Nugent, Ann Coulter, David Barton, etc.

(54,379 posts)I'm "conservative," but I sure as hell am not "a conservative," at least not by their definition.
