2016 Postmortem

getting annoying emails from the DCCC begging for money to stop impeachment efforts by the Republicans? They read like dunning letters from creditors. Way over the top and they lend credence to Republican charges of starting impeachment talk. Aren't we Democrats better than that? Will have to block them.

(29,067 posts)which they make kind of hard.
Right before you get to the "final" YES, I want to unsubscribe, they ask
you why (optional) you are unsubscribing..
I told them "Because you are CONSTANTLY asking me for money"!!
Here's hoping they'll get the message.

(16,254 posts)I no longer answer the telephone and the subject lines of the emails in the last 48 hours, especially, are intimidating. Those are going into the trash can.
This fund raising is 24/7 and I am very disappointed to see them turn sour. I would donate, but as soon as I did, I would have three times as many requests for more money. I get nearly 200 emails per day, as is.
I almost cringe when I see so many daily crises turn into requests for funds. I think both parties are pushing the envelope on this.
Wrong approach.

(20,450 posts)The Republicans have been trying to impeach this president since he first raised his right hand in 2009.

(2,569 posts)I finally got snarky and sent all of them a blunt reply: "If you had been more vigilant over the past thirty years when the Republicans and their corporate owners were robbing us, I would consider another donation. Alas, due to the wage theft of this period, I can no longer afford to do that."

(97 posts)Instead of unsubscribing, why don't you give them $5.00. Help get back the house. Of course they have to use gimmicks to get our attention. They need our help.

(1,735 posts)However since my social security is about $1,000 a month, it's impossible. Used to volunteer time but at 72, it's getting harder and harder. Still can vote however and will, but having 50 or 60 emails a day asking for money is over the top. My point is that the DCCC just might be trying too hard to squeeze more and more money from people and ultimately turn off the folks they are trying to reach.
