all I heard from the cons was that global warming was a hoax

the conservatives refuse to listen to scientist or observe what is actually happening....and STILL you can't see reality.....I see you as the cause of the problem not a solution to anything.

They cannot see how their behavior is degrading the planet we all call home, we have half the country living as if there is nothing wrong. We can see it, the changes in the weather, the increasingly more prevalent and severe natural disasters, the rising ocean levels, increasing poverty and food insecurity. More people are effected every day yet they still cannot see. I fear if nothing is done the government may have to take drastic steps sometime in the not so distant future, hopefully before lower Manhattan is under water.

Accepting AGW means accepting government regulation as a solution. (There is no other, AFAIK.) This provides a cognitive dissonance for market fundamentalists and other creationists. It's really a psychological problem that politics, which cannot ignore a vacuum, is happy to exploit.
