Protect public schools/education

I went to a meeting today about something else and a woman made a passionate plea for all of us to be aware of what is happening with our public schools. Teachers unions are being hit with dark money that goes back to the K Bros. If unions are destroyed then the schools disappear and for profit education appears.

I am in southern Ca where our community colleges are vitally important both for young people and for older folk who are recycling careers. The community colleges of San Francisco have been mostly closed because the people who authorize/accredit the school (all schools) decided to do so. Accreditation groups are not public. They are private. This was new to me and everyone else there. They can be bought. So suddenly 100,000 students cannot transfer.

If you are in S.F., jump on board and help your local community colleges. No matter where you live, check this out. It is happening all across the country. If community colleges are not available, guess who cannot afford the for profit schools.
Education is vital in democracy. Attacking public education is an attack on democracy -- or at least I think so, smile. This is another shadow swipe at the people.

It is under threat of losing its accreditation under what has been said to be a political decision, because the actual team that conducted the review recommended only probation.
