Yeah this will go over well.

In a video taken by American Bridge, Beauprez, who is challenging incumbent Governor John Hickenlooper (D), claimed that all public land in the state was supposed to be Colorados and that if this were private land and the federal government was a tenant, we would cancel their lease.
Gov. Hickenlooper questioned how Beauprez would plan on footing the bill for such a proposal, noting that estimates show that transferring Colorados national parks, forests and public lands to the state would cost taxpayers at least $200 million dollars. Additional estimates of the costs of fighting wildfires on lands transferred to the state could add hundreds of millions of dollars.
Although most Western voters deeply value their public lands, Beauprez is one of several candidates supporting such proposals this election season. As ThinkProgress reported last week, there are a number of right-wing politicians across the country who have been advancing proposals to transfer of control of public lands to states, or to sell them off to the highest bidder for drilling, mining and logging.

(31,849 posts)I suspect, if he were honest, Beauprez's plan is simple ... he plans to auction of the public lands to the highest bidder; just as the Arizona republicans proposed.
That plan went no where once the hunters realized that their favorite hunting grounds would no longer be available to them, as it would then be private property.

(8,758 posts)The National Parks are one of the most beloved things to the Republican party and conservatives in general. They are also the one thing liberals and environmental can have common ground on with pro-business conservatives.
If a voter has any positive feelings towards the outdoors, they will be repulsed by any language shutting down the National Parks. This is an especially stupid move as much of Colorado is big on the outdoors.
Statements like this just show how selfish these clowns are. The sad thing is, these jerks have always been with us. It was a colossal fight just to get Yosemite preserved and dingbats then said the same stupid crap dingbats now are saying. John Muir is rolling in his grave.
