Mitch McConnell wants you to think Im Barack Obama, she says in the ad. Mitch is the same guy who thought Duke Basketball players were UK! Or whos attacking me on coal, after doing next to nothing while weve lost thousands of coal jobs. He even said its not his job to bring jobs to Kentucky....
After the ad flashes a photo of McConnell carrying a musket onstage at the Conservative Political Action Conference, Grimes quips "thats not how you hold a gun."
Grimes has now joined a club of candidates who have featured guns in their campaign ads, including Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) and Rep. John Barrow (D-Ga.) as well as Republican Senate hopefuls such as former Alaska Attorney General Dan Sullivan (R) and Iowa state Sen. Joni Ernst (R).

This is one President who rolls with the punches.

(46,416 posts)are universally fucking idiotic. Photo-ops are bad enough, but ads are how the low-info's choose a candidate, and guns featured in ads make me sick. Just plain gross pandering.

(25,453 posts)I wasn't a fan of Dale Peterson pretending to shoot at someone trying to steal a yard sign or Joe Manchin shooting at a copy of Obama's climate change proposal because these ads promote a reckless gun culture.
But this is an ad where the candidate is depicted shooting at clay pigeons on a range, which is a controlled and appropriate setting for someone to be using a firearm.

On edit: I researched this. The TV spot was done by Mark Putnam who did some of Obama' ads. He sounds like a wizkid. Which makes this icky ad with guns particularly puzzling.
I can find no evidence of "pro-Obama forces sent to help her." ... From all I've read, she is a Clinton protege who convinced her to run away from the ACA which is nuts since Kynect is Kentucky's well-received and popular version of the ACA.

She said, I disagree with (Obama) on guns, coal and the EPA."

(13,466 posts)I saw the ad this morning and knew this was coming.
There are things I would change about this state, but if she has any chance at all she has to distance herself from the President. It has to be done.

But I guess considering everything she's as good as we're gonna get.
Since she claims to support "coal jobs", I wonder how she feels about things like, oh I don't know, mine safety.

(382 posts)Being from Kentucky, I believe that people in Kentucky need to come to grips with the fact that the coal jobs that have been lost are never coming back. Coal, as an energy source, is being replaced and until someone finds another profitable use for coal, the number of coal jobs will continue to decline.
It's time to move forward instead of looking backward.

(1,306 posts)she is saying: "I'm more of a man than Mitch McConnell!"
The Turtle is constantly making veiled, misogynistic comments about his
opponent's gender. He is the stereotypical wimp, and she needs to counter-
punch his condescension. It's worth a shot (pun intended)
I can't believe she is trailing in the polls to this tool. How many Republican
voters who signed on to the Kynect program will vote for him anyway ?

(24,414 posts)The things that Dems in red states have to do to get elected there. Question: If we have to pander to red state idiocy and simple-mindedness in order to win, how are we helping advance our country and our civilization? Plus, I'm getting tired of Dems having to pander to right-wing prejudice against President Obama. Why do Dems have to apologize for supporting him when he hasn't done anything wrong or embarrassing (more so than any other politician)? If anything, Republicans ought to be way more embarrassed about their own candidates.

I think in most states running away from Obama is a loser. But, in Kentucky, West Virginia, Ohio, and Wisconsin as it stands right now it's a winner.
That's my own completely amateur opinion.

(3,544 posts)I'm not so convinced she is the one. Not supporting the ACA is not a good stance for a democrat. And I still haven't heard anything about her other than her negative ads. What does she stand for? She needs to push it from that perspective too.
