Pelosi: Dems will take Congress, WH in '16

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) predicted a Democratic sweep in 2016.

If Republicans keep the House in November, Pelosi said they wouldn’t hold their majority for long.

“Their days are numbered. I know that in two years, I know we’ll have a Democratic Congress and a Democratic president,” she told reporters at her weekly press conference.
“I’d like it to be in two months,” she added.

Asked if she was conceding that Republicans would hold the House in November’s midterms, Pelosi insisted, “No, I’m not."

“I think we’ll do okay,” said Pelosi, who was headed to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee to discuss the elections.

I "get" that our chances don't look great this year (except perhaps for a couple key gubernatorial races)... but her job here is very clear:

She's supposed to put an optimistic face on and stick to that until after the election. Anything else can harm turnout and make a bad situation worse. Heck... sometimes political leaders shift over to "we knew it was going to be bad" mere minutes after the polls close.

But when votes are still being cast... her job description requires a little spin.

If she can't do that, she should keep her mouth shut.

We will have Dems in charge for at least two years and we might be able to get some things done.

No reason to think with someone else at the top of the ticket there will be a different result just because of that.

When the Republicans have control of the Senate as well as the House in 2014, (as everyone keeps saying), they will do more than the Dems have done in the past 20 years. I guarantee that the very first thing they will do in the Senate will be to eliminate the filibuster.

Then just like Obama found it impossible to clean up the mess that Bush made, we won't be able to clean up the mess Congress creates in the next two years. And don't forget that they will be passing outlandish legislation to force Obama to veto it. Then they, along with Fox News and a predictable MSM, will label him as the "Obstructionist" and probably make it stick going into the '16 elections.

I sure hope I'm wrong, but that's their roadmap, Nancy.

The Republicans will probably gain seats in the House and Democrats better start praying that they hold the Senate, that's still a very iffy proposition. As for 2016, it's too soon to tell.

....and yes I am a realist, I understand that we may lose the senate in 2014 and it pisses me off that President Obama's last two years will be a losing fight with republicans, but if republicans do take senate it will remind Americans how much better off the Democratic majority is and will be...

I hope to god this dont happen...
