Only six of the 9 justices will attend the State of the Union speech tonight.

•Six of the nine Supreme Court justices are expected to attend tonight's State of the Union address, per NBC's Pete Williams. The three who will sit it this year out are Justices Antonin Scalia, Clarence Thomas, and Samuel Alito. Alito made headlines in 2010 for mouthing "not true" when the president criticized the court's ruling on corporate campaign spending. Scalia, who has skipped the previous seventeen addresses, has said of the State of the Union: "It has turned into a childish spectacle. I don't want to be there to lend dignity to it."

I'm glad the 3 AH's won't be there! One less thing to piss me off.

That is the implication, unless you mean to hold up Scalia as in: he is the greatest person ever, but even he can't bring dignity to such an act. Either way, your comment and decision not to delete sucks.

he didn't go to the SotU addresses when Bush was in the white house either. I guess he has better things to do.

There are executions to justify, voting rights to suppress, and dirty campaign funds to legalize.

He certainly has better things to do than to listen to some president who has other goals in mind.

He added to the "dignity" of the speech by not being present.

Their absence clearly proves their partisan bias, which is not supposed to be the case with Supreme Court Justices.
