Cuomo Fades as National Figure

“In Albany and statewide, it’s a bleak winter for Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D). And nationally, the picture isn’t much brighter,” the Albany Times Union reports.

“At home, Cuomo has been buffeted by the recent corruption arrest of now ex-Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver, and continued criticism from his controversial decision to scrap his Moreland Commission panel investigating public corruption. And nationwide, Cuomo has begun his second term with little of the presidential buzz that attended his first year in office.”

depending on how the 2016 Prez race goes for Dems. A Dem loss would move him, and a few others, to the head of the pack for 2020.

and Silver is just the last straw.

NY governors are not particularly powerful as governors go, and so have to rely on the work of others to get things done. This Cuomo has been too quick to take credit for that work, and too stingy with what he can offer. He is not particularly likable, either.
