Senate to delay Lynch vote until human trafficking bill resolved, McConnell says

Mitch McConnell says Loretta Lynch confirmation vote for attorney general won’t
happen before lawmakers settle dispute over abortion funding measure in bill

Agencies in Washington
Sunday 15 March 2015 16.38 GMT

Senate majority leader Mitch McConnell warned on Sunday that he will not hold a confirmation vote for Loretta Lynch as attorney general until the Senate completes work on a bill designed to curb human trafficking.

Lynch would be the first black woman to serve as the nation’s top law enforcement officer.

McConnell had said he would be moving to the Lynch nomination this week. But progress on the human trafficking bill has stalled over a dispute about a provision regarding funding for abortions that McConnell says has been federal policy for almost 40 years.

“This will have an impact on the timing of considering a new attorney general,” McConnell told CNN. “I had hoped to turn to her next week, but if we can’t finish the trafficking bill, she will be put off again.”

you'd think that they'd be more eager to get her confirmed. Apparently, they are more eager to load up bipartisan bills with more "poison pill" riders. I have a feeling that they will eventually have to fold on this once people realize what is going and why they are holding up a legitimately bipartisan bill that lots of people support for partisan political reasons.
