New Speed Bumps for Clinton

A new poll is out from CNN at http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2015/images/06/01/2016.poll.pdf

CNN's article (from which the title above comes) is at http://www.cnn.com/2015/06/02/politics/hillary-clinton-2016-poll-gop-field-close/

with the first few paragraphs

Washington (CNN)More people have an unfavorable view of Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton now than at any time since 2001, according to a new CNN/ORC poll on the 2016 race.

While Clinton remains strikingly dominant in the Democratic field, the poll shows that her numbers have dropped significantly across several key indicators since she launched her campaign in April.

A growing number of people say she is not honest and trustworthy (57%, up from 49% in March), less than half feel she cares about people like them (47%, down from 53% last July) and more now feel she does not inspire confidence (50%, up from 42% last March).

Offered without external comment, it is what it is. (ETA: ok, made comments below after all, so ignore this line.)

1. Actually, one comment - she's still above water on the 'cares about people like you' question.

Only 42% said she doesn't. I guess 11% of respondents were noncommittal on that question.

2. The 57% "not honest and trustworthy" is troubling.

However, I suspect that number is much better than any of the GOP candidates.

3. There's a lot more in the actual poll.

CNN cherry-picked the anti-Hillary parts to focus on, but if you get into the poll as a whole, there's not a lot of good news for anyone in there.

vote for him. There is no-one in the GOP race I could even begin to consider.

I have to admit that the size of the the crowds he's been drawing are unexpected and heartening.

I get annoyed when we get polls reported showing public approval/disapproval ratings that purport to show Democrats (i.e. President Obama) in trouble but the Republican (or "other&quot approval/disapproval ratings are actually much, much worse. If CNN is trying to tell us that, if Hillary gets nominated, there's a real danger that one of the current GOPers running (or potentially running) for POTUS will likely have higher ratings in terms of honesty and trustworthiness, I refuse to take it seriously. Are they running polls on the honesty or trustworthiness of Scott Walker? Jeb Bush? Marco Rubio? Or is this just another arrow for CNN to fling at the currently leading frontrunner for POTUS next year?

have always been a liability whether within her own party for the primary or within both parties for the general...The party leadership has ignored this. Whether or not Hillary paints herself as a populist contributes to her trust issues. It's pretty clear what her record is.
