Related: About this forumBernie Sanders is Packing All His Rallys
It all started out small but with big expectations that have proved to be correct and, perhaps, surprising to everyone but Bernie Sanders himself. He drew five thousand in his Vermont kick-off rally. Three thousand in Minnesota. Largest crowd of any candidate this year in Iowa. It was standing room only in New Hampshire. But Wisconsin proved to be the best news where he came in a close second to Hillary Clinton in the state straw poll. It was 49% to 41%, leaving Martin O'Malley at only 3%. Although straw polls are not rocket science, it is a measure of the support for the Senator. As Alex SeitzWald said on MSNBC, "...it shows a desire for an alternative to Clinton and an interest in Sanders among the partys most committed members, at least in Wisconsin." It would be nice to see the results of a straw poll pitting Bernie Sanders against Wis. Gov. Scott Walker, another presidential contender. At the end of May CNN had him at 15% support from Democratic voters nationwide which triples where he was a month prior. I'd like to see Nate Silver's predictions for Sanders with these early results.

(14,177 posts)It is another backhanded attempt to smear a candidate who is not a Republican. A Bernie rally is nothing like a RepubliKKKan rally and we all know that. Except for a few vocally ugly Hillary supporters. The backlash is coming count on it.

(14,177 posts)It is mostly Hillary supporters doing it. They have officially kicked poor people of all races to the curb to score political points, it's disgusting.

(156 posts)he essentially was a no name in national politics when he got started, he did do the progressive talk show circuits such as thom hartmann show, but wasn't really a household name that just in a short few months after announcing, he his packing rally's and quickly becoming a nation wide mainstream household name. he has been going to largely white states but as he starts to find his way to some of the more racially diverse states, Colorado is a swing state, and very racially diverse, i think he will start to pack in some more non white faces.
i don't count him out yet. he just may wipe the floor with other democrats, win the nomination, and then wipe the floor with the republican nominee.
the thing about him is he has been singing the same tune for as long as he has been in politics and has never flip flopped on the issues.
people see that. as they learn more about him and hear him speak they like him even more.
i didn't know jack about bernie till i heard him on thom hartmann one day, did a little research on him, listen to him every time he was on thom hartmann. made it a point to make sure i was available for thom's brunch with bernie each and every time. i have liked everything he has had to say since day one.
i am a sanders supporter. if clinton does get the nomination, but i hope bernie gets it, i will vote for her, but my first choice is sanders.

(350 posts)Have researched Bernie Sanders for several years; I am a Democratic Socialist. But never zeroed in on the fact that he has never flip-flopped. You should be working on his campaign.
