June 11, 2015
What does Bernie Sanders think of the medias performance so far this campaign? Barely adequate. The huge speaking fees Bill and Hillary Clinton have accepted? Wrong question, he says; you should be asking why anyone pays them. How about primary debates? Sanders says the entire system should be redesigned to bring Republicans on stage with Democrats.
As Hillary Clinton stayed out of sight this week, fundraising and preparing what is sure to be a highly produced presidential campaign launch speech in New York on Saturday, Sanders, the senator from Vermont who also is seeking the Democratic nomination, was mixing it up with the media.
The contrast was notable. Clinton has yet to put herself in the situation that Sanders eagerly embraced Thursday morning, as he engaged in a frank give-and-take with reporters over breakfast. He delivered some lines it would be hard to imagine Clinton ever uttering not because they reflected his socialist outlook, but because they were so blunt.
Campaigns are not baseball games, Sanders scolded. What did I read in the paper today? Gov. Bush is getting a new campaign manager. You know who cares about that? About eight people in the world. Nobody cares about that.

(10,497 posts)would show vs. Democrats! Another thing, the differences in intellect would be stark. R's would never agree because they wouldn't want their base to hear any reality!

(30,099 posts)about how we got where we are. The Republican narrative will remain strong among the elite
who directly benefit monetarily from their political platform and the racist/fundies who
they serve with their assault on civil rights.
But there are millions of Republican voters in between and he may reach them in record
numbers..we'll see. Independents will be an even easier group to reach..they have less
baggage.
Democrats will need to decide if they want to risk more of the status quo too and
who they believe will act in their best interest and fight for over turning CU followed
by a fight for public funded elections.

(30,099 posts)Not many voted against it at the time but they did warn of the consequences...commenting
only a few years later how quickly the ownership became so consolidated within media.
Among all the other obstacles we see in politics, I'm not sure how we'll see this one dialed back.
