In reversal, Wicker calls for removal of Mississippi's Confederate flag

You can't make up this shit. On Monday he said this:

“I support the will of the people of Mississippi, as well as the rights of other states to make their own determination on this issue. Mississippians voted in 2001 to retain the current state flag,” Wicker said. “If it is time to make a change, then it should be up to the Mississippi legislature and the people of the state to decide.”

Exactly two days later, it apparently is not the "people of Mississippi" who should decide. I hope the people of Mississippi are proud of their senator. And politicians wonder why voters don't trust them. By the way, the old fossil Thad Cochran is still holding onto the Dixie flag - as of Monday, anyway. Stay tuned. Republicans are changing their colors faster than a chameleon stuck on a kaleidoscope.

and won elections waving the bloody states-rights Dixie flag for years - basically since Nixon's infamous Southern Strategy of 1972 which he hatched with Strom Thurmond and which moved most of the Dixiecrats to the Republican Party. Now the chickens have come home to roost.
