I can understand why Bill Clinton might stay out of the limelight during the primaries.

But during the general election, his ability to frame issues would make him a powerful asset.

The republicans are easily 100 times crazier than they were when he was President.
He could slice them to ribbons.

Do you think that the Big Dog will be the primary attack dog in the general if she wins the nomination?

Just being the first "First Gentleman" would be pretty amazing.

One of his big things will be promoting the foundation. I'm sure his speaking fee will be astronomical, so he'll rake in the bucks for the foundation. The whole family has been doing exactly that for a while now.

I believe it's customary for serving presidents to refuse speaking fees, but their wives have taken in big charitable contributions for ages. I imagine Bill ad Chelsea Clinton will do the same when Hillary becomes president. (Yes, I admit she'll probably win.) I much prefer the Sanders model, which holds to the traditional role of a public servant. I think a former secretary of state should not charge what the market will bear, but only what is reasonable, and should only appear for worthy causes. Yes, the Clintons use their foundation as a political tool. Canadian energy corporations do not give money to US charities because they're worried about American kids getting obese. They give money because they want to be connected to people who can help them, and the Clintons are such people. Is it quid pro quo? Legally, no. I don't like it, but it will pass ethics guidelines, which I would argue are too loose.

He is the best politician of his generation.

He could fill what ever role he wants.

Bill would upstage Hillary in some cases, so I would think he would attend "closed door" events, continue with the Foundation, and maybe hit some late night shows or other entertainment spots.

Of course, I might be wrong.

7. If I were Hillary, he would be standing next to me a a large portion of events.

Very limited speaking. Just a little laugh here and there. When people see his face they smile. They get a good feeling. Everyone in their right mind would want that association. Just like people who hand things out before they present something. It automatically associates the speaker with something good. It is done on a smaller scale in every single campaign.
