(13,685 posts)It is your campaign.
This campaign to elect Bernie Sanders as President of the United States begins with you, and me. It is not a campaign of big money and banksters and elites.
It is the People's campaign.
Our first goal is to make sure our fellow Democrats turn out in each and every precinct when the primary rolls around. The best way to do that is to start local and begin occupying local Democratic party organizations.
Each local party has lists of the members who vote and we start with those party members, telling them about Bernie.
Expect resistance from the party leaders as they are conditioned to vote for the establishment candidate. But, you will see that through the course of your campaign many of the leaders will come to see Bernie as the best candidate. If they continue to obstruct, go around them and make sure every party meeting has more and more Bernie campaigners occupying the seats.
It is up to us to elect Bernie. Our rewards for winning this campaign will be great, and our children will thanks us.

(20,709 posts)I happen to support Hillary for the nomination. Because I think she's got a much better chance in the GE, and my top priority is avoiding a Republican.
Guess it's not my campaign after all.

(8,515 posts)I like Bernie a hell of a lot...Ive posted a couple of times and was immediately attacked with all sort of crap..Check my thread list, it was within the last 10 days..

(13,685 posts)And feel the Bern. I am sure of it.
DanTex
(20,709 posts)I think he's great. But I don't think he's our best chance to win the GE. And that's a big, big factor.
The breakdown of votes goes like this:
1/3 each republican, independent Democrats.
Hillary will take no republican votes, very few of the independents who think we need real change, and maybe half the Democrats will even vote. Result is a republican win.
Bernie will take many republican votes, many independents, and nearly all the invigorated and enthused Democrats. Result is a Democratic win.

(19,877 posts)If the election is between her and a wingnut, she will easily take independent voters.
RobertEarl
(13,685 posts)And that's what Hillary offers.
Bernie, however, offers everything good that Hillary offers, and more!
JaneyVee
(19,877 posts)She will take moderates and all those liberal independents. She won't get conservatives or libertarians.
RobertEarl
(13,685 posts)Independents, plus some equality (R) women, and he'll get a slice of cons and most libertarians.

(16,286 posts)we know it to be today, if that makes sense.
All he has to do is two things:
1. explain why democratic socialism is very very good for you
2. reach out to POC and prove to them he has their interests at heart as much as Hillary does
He has to do both of these things, and he can.

(146,317 posts)They tend to reveal how people are thinking about the upcoming election at a specific moment in time. Those numbers change as people change their minds.
You're talking about the way every candidate tries to improve his or her position. There are Clinton fans and Sanders fans all doing what you suggest and talking to likely voters. As each primary gets closer, more and more people will be out doing that, and candidates and their campaigns will be spending money doing that.
It's important to believe that the candidate you prefer is the one who will win. It's also important to understand that others are believing the same about their candidate.
You might prevail, or they might prevail. In either case, there will be a Democratic nominee. Once there is, Democrats will work together to elect that nominee. That's essential. It's important not to make a win for your candidate in the primary so crucial that you cannot support the nominee of your candidate doesn't become that nominee. I guarantee that the candidate who doesn't prevail will endorse the eventual nominee and campaign for the winner.
We should all follow that lead. If your candidate can't pull off a win, all is not lost - just the primary.

(26,060 posts)in my family always vote in primaries. In this one, we'll all be voting for Hillary.
RobertEarl
(13,685 posts)The Bern is hot.

(26,060 posts)They're already WORKING on Hillary's campaign. If Bernie gets the nod, they'll vote for him in the general (as any decent Democrat will do) but the primaries are Hillary's. You seem to operate in a bubble similar to the one the right wingers do. Come on out of there, take a look at the polls and smell the reality.

(1,196 posts)as long as Hillary can fill the same stadium to the roof top with Wall Street cash.
MineralMan
(146,317 posts)That's what matters, and the only thing that matters, really. If those 10,000 supporters can get enough others to vote for their favorite, then their candidate will do better. If not, then they won't prevail. It's pretty simple, really. Money is important, but not all-important.

(8,515 posts)We are fighting Citizens United..Billions of dollars will be spent on lies which will be effective to our dumbed down electorate which mostly exists in the middle..So in my opinion, Hillary should take money from ant source possible..Yea, and I dont mean from extremists..
DanTex
(20,709 posts)The object is to win the campaign. That requires fundraising. Losing elections isn't going to change Citizens United. Only winning elections will do that.

(51,076 posts)pretty fucking impressive if you ask me
Bernie Sander will be our next POTUS
Hillary and all her money will go down in history as a twice can't buy an election

(3,655 posts)The composite chart at huffpo shows the green line taking a sharp turn Northward. I see no evidence of peaking. Peaking would show that line leveling off.

(11,473 posts)They know before they ask what people will say. I have responded for years that i am a strong liberal democrat.
So with how they ask the questions they would basically know about how a group of people even democrats would answer before giving survey.
Give the survey to more conservative dems or dems with more money and. Bet they pick Hillary.
