2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumTo the DU direct from Larry Cohen at Bernie's campaign
Larry is the former President of the CWA . I asked what he would like to share with us.
Hi Steve
I think the key endorsements are individuals committing to volunteer as you are doing. Top down union endorsements, particularly in primaries, are much less important than boots on the ground, building a campaign structure etc. Bernie's campaign welcomes endorsements, but we particularly welcome the growing army of volunteers. Nearly 100 volunteers made the Council Bluffs event great.
And this after he saw today's post about our Act Blue total: Great work and fund raising! (http://www.democraticunderground.com/1251432141)

(99,660 posts)I met Larry last Friday at Bernie's Council Bluffs, IA event. He gave me a hug to share with Marta and my sister. When the Communication Workers of America went out on strike both of them never considered crossing the picker line. Marta was out once. She got her start in computing at the phone company. My sister was out 3 times. The 70's, 80's, and 90's.

WASHINGTON -- The longtime leader of one of the countrys most powerful labor unions is joining the Democratic presidential campaign of Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), and he says presumed frontrunner Hillary Clinton made it an easy call.
Larry Cohen, outgoing president of the Communications Workers of America, told The Huffington Post he will serve as an unpaid volunteer stumping for Sanders as the Vermont senator seeks the Democratic nomination. One of the main factors in his decision, Cohen said, was Clintons equivocation on granting President Barack Obama so-called fast-track authority on his mammoth trade deal.
I did everything I knew how to do to get Clinton to speak out on fast track, and she wouldnt, said Cohen, whose 10 years leading CWA came to an end in June. "We begged her to speak out.
There was a million ways she could have done it. ... Why was she silent on this?"

(99,660 posts)NO funds go to the DU. The DU can't see your info. It is just a secure link. We are in third place in number of donations and fourth in cash against ALL Bernie links from PACs etc. See the bottom of this post.
Bernie's campaign uses Act Blue too. This just keeps a total of $ donated by DUers and friends.
All the donated $ to Bernie goes to Bernie except for the actual charge card fee by law: http://support.actblue.com/faq#q15
Fees all vendors pay to use your credit card from a vendors perspective: http://paysimple.com/credit_card_rates_explained.html
IF you give a voluntary tip it goes to Act Blue, the most successful Democratic $ raising PAC for their in house expenses like rent, payroll, IT, etc.

(8,175 posts)permanently in their files. Too many places on-line where I need to keep it updated for auto payment of bills and such. I already use pay pal for on-line shopping, so I want to use pay pal for donations to Bernie, but the last time I tried, it just went back to act blue, as if I had to log in my info with them again.
So now I will have to mail them checks. I don't like mailing checks. I wish they could get it working for pay pal.
I will keep donating, (and did use act blue the first time) but it won't be as easy. I also wanted to buy some Bernie merchandise too, but you have to use act blue for that too.

(99,660 posts)You could even use a completely different bank (or not with just a small different account) with a checking account Visa/Master Card.
Many people do that for online shopping.
Some banks & credit unions now offer one time card numbers that you can even set up a $ or time limit on too. Marta and I have one of these.
One or two have used a pre-paid Visa. I don't really recommend that.
And Act Blue won't process checks.

(14,881 posts)quite frankly, it's a dump and an embarrassing one at that. I'm so used to it that I don't notice too much any more. I make a point of not wearing the reading glasses so I don't see the dog fur and dust in unexpected places
If I could host it in somebody else's home, that would be fine though

(14,881 posts)There's a restaurant/bar I've never been too that looks reasonable from the outside. And I think the new library may have a room. Hmmm...

(62,325 posts)is now volunteering for Bernie. Wasn't he a Hillary supporter in the past? I read he waited for her to tell him where she stood on the TPP and that it was this issue that made him decide to support Bernie.
