(9,497 posts)came from the GOP to Obama's campaign. They don't take Bernie seriously. But everyone I knew who was at the Battle of Seattle back in the day have filtered out to issue campaigns. They are still involved but now inside the system. I believe they will mobilize for Bernie as well. In fact, my fb wall is flooded with Bernie. 6 mos ago, it was H, the Elizabeth.
We want something more. We don't want to vote out of a scarcity mentality.
We also are very focused on climate change, banksters and Monsanto. H doesn't do well in those areas , in our opinion. I truly wish she did. Really.

(81,322 posts)Glad you're here! Senator Sanders. And he wasn't the only one. She contributed to a lot of people.

I wonder if that's part of what's behind those "please donate! Your contributions will be double/triple matched!" messages. Anybody get those emails? I certainly do. It's not just her HILLPAC that does it, but also everybody else's. In both parties. They all help each other, for reasons both altruistic and strategic. It helps friends and builds alliances for the future. And not just candidates, either, but the issues, propositions, ballot initiatives, funding for NRDC campaigns, funding to help the Overturn Citizens United campaigns, Nancy Pelosi wants to help the DCCC, Emily's List wants to do thus and such, and more. I wouldn't be surprised if Bernie Sanders has helped a few friends as well.
artislife
(9,497 posts)I have to admit, I haven't looked at how individual donations are used. I just kind of thought when we donate to one candidate or one group such Emily's List it just went to them.
Good info to have.

The Bernie supporters want have personal relationship
with Bernie, they are not considering what is best the for all
Americans.
Bernie is just not competent enough to be President he is just
a nice man.

(11,441 posts)No, I just want a politician who won't allow greedy, Wall Street-beholden politicians -- Republicans AND centrist Democrats -- to fuck with Social Security and Medicare. Protecting the social safety net IS what's best for all Americans... tell me you don't understand that.
lewebley3
(3,412 posts)Hillary, as well many Dem have voted to protect SS, it was started
under FDR.
Sanders position on SS Med is nothing special, but it is Hillary, that has been
brave enough all these years: to actually get in the fight for SS
Sanders sat in the senate until he was 73, to do anything

Sanders is the Junior Senator of Vermont. You make it sound like he was born there and has been there for 73 years.
The gun lobby is not a big fan.
Your segment about social security and Medicaid is pretty much incoherent. But thanks for letting us know about FDR!

I don't want Christmas cards, I don't want a personally autographed 8x10 glossy of them, I don't want to be invited to "salons" (or in someone like bush's case, saloons), and I don't want to have their baby. I outgrew "Tiger Beat" about 50 years ago.

(11,441 posts)Hillary has been in my life since the early '90s, and like most, I have a pretty good read on Ms. Hillary Rodham Clinton.
lewebley3
(3,412 posts)You don't have a good read if you don't know her prior to the
90's.
She was offered a fantastic career when she left college, she
turned it down to go to a small poor state, she turned down
millions of dollars in order to work for the American people.
She was one of the to first to go to Texas to help register new Mexican immigrates
to vote.
Hillary, has never been greedy and her heart has always been in the right
place when it comes to the American people.
WorseBeforeBetter
(11,441 posts)but that was way before my time. Wellesley and Yale. Rose Law Firm. First Lady of Arkansas. Walmart's Board of Directors. But I guarantee the vast majority of Americans never heard of her until 1992 when Bill was campaigning for Prez.
Bernie comes across as the same principled man he was back when leading the student sit-ins at the University of Chicago. Hillary has "evolved," and not in a good way.
lewebley3
(3,412 posts)We don't know Bernie principles , you are assuming a lot: he has
never been test on the national stage. HIs back ground has
never been examed, like the Clintons.
I just don't think he has any competency to be President, like FDR
said to be a good President mean being a good poker player.
Sanders have never been in a game, with all kinds of different players,
he lives in state with the population 600,000, 95% white.
He really has nothing do show for his principals, he sat in the Senate doing
nothing but talking for years.
We know Hillary will fight, we don't know if Sanders is any kind of fighter at all

(11,441 posts)The question is, for whom? That's what worries me.
I became aware of Sanders over a decade ago. Where have you been? Iraq War, anyone? If his vote against that atrocity doesn't scream "principles" to you, I can't help you. Same with his opposition to the Patriot Act. Calling for Criminal Justice and Wall Street reform. Voting against the Defense of Marriage Act. Bernie's "principles" are out there -- study up.
Let them examine. He'll tell them to stuff it, like Roosevelt, who welcomed their hatred. Do you honestly believe that Sanders, the Democratic 'SOCIALIST', is some sort of shrinking violet? That's pretty funny.

Personal relationship? Where, pray, did you get that hysterical idea?
Not competent? Really? Really?
Bernie is a great guys and says a lot of great things but his accomplishments pale compared to Hillary. I just wish they (the Bernie supporters) weren't spreading GOP lies and propaganda about Hillary instead of promoting their candidate. Its so unnecessary. They can promote their candidate without the Hillary hate

(1,309 posts)willing to fight against the billionaires for the sake of our people. This is the most important battle of our generation and we should view it as the best investment we can make of our time and effort- the Lord knows, the rich are buying our opponents. We want a country where people are the first thing served- not just the rich and big business. If you want that, stick with Hillary. Oh let me see, she is not responsible for NAFTA, not responsible for war votes, just lots of feel good pandering with social issues. She has the economic agenda of her donors as did her husband and it does not serve our people well. I like Bernie because of his authentic and long held views in comparison of her focus group derived positions which are intended as written to skirt any possible harm to her donor class. I do not want a relationship with Bernie, I want a country that embraces and institutes what he believes in. But then I am just a low class riff raff who does not get the big picture. As for competency, President provide leadership and overall direction, I am sure Bernie can find many people competent enough to provide the implementation of policies he supports. So yes, I disagree with everything you said except that Bernie is a nice man. Go Bernie.

(2,720 posts)...and that all your objections of the leading candidate for the Democratic presidential nomination are based on pure unreasoning hatred.
Specifically,
* You reference no facts or polling data
* You make no logical arguments
* You are clearly stating that you cannot abide someone who doesn't agree with you 110%, since it's nearly certain that you and Ms. Clinton agree on at least 70% of issues
There are supporters of Senator Sanders that try address these sorts of things, and have civil discussions over party direction and party strategy. It is fascinating that you (and all those who upvoted you) have declared that you're not susceptible to any form of discussion or reason on this topic.
