I've met some wonderful people in the Southern U.S. and I've met absolute assholes in San Francisco but I don't paint an entire area with one broad brush. Kind of a thing with me.

Left in 1986 for San Francisco. Moved to LA in 2000 (met hubby and my job opportunities at my company were better) ... I miss SF so much. But I guess my "geographical bigotry" got the best of me. I love going back home to see my family. My mom was so happy when I moved to LA because I'm much closer now. BAKO isn't Alabama .... but it's pretty red. I admire liberal that are there like my mom (and bless his heart my late step-dad) ... it's my hometown .... but I would rather eat glass than move back there.

I LOVE to go home to my hometown. It is changing VERY slowly. I admire my liberal and LGBT peeps that are still there standing up. I could not stay there. I had to get out and follow my dream of living in San Francisco and now LA. If that makes be a "geographical bigot" than so be it. I love my friends back home. Love to there, get my doo done, hang with my mom, my family, eat some good ol' Mexican food (Bako has some of the BEST) and the only place in California for the best Basque food as well.

I say 1st hand the bigotry my mom had to face as my brother died of AIDS. He moved to San Francisco after I did and my mom had to bite her lips when speaking to her co-workers about him.
