(4,168 posts)He's a good candidate for being a senator or a governor. As a presidential candidate.... no.
Nothing in that interview gave me any confidence in his ability to lead a nation or win the presidential race.

(45,488 posts)O'Malley isn't just talk, he has an excelent track record of actual accomplishments.
Here's why I support him:
Martin O'Malley:
1. Ended death penalty in Maryland
2. Prevented fracking in Maryland and put regulations in the way to prevent next GOP Gov Hogan fom easily allowing fracking.
3. Provided health insurance for 380,000
4. Reduced infant mortality to an all time low.
5. Provided meals to thousands of hungry children and moved toward a goal for eradicating childhood hunger.
6. Enacted a $10.10 living wage and a $11. minimum wage for State workers.
7. Supporter of the Dream Act
8. Cut income taxes for 86% of Marylanders (raised taxes on the rich).
9. Reformed Marylands tax code to make it more progressive.
10. Enacted some of the nations most comprehensive reforms to protect homeowners from foreclosure.
There is a lot more, but I'll only add that Mother Jones magazine called him the best candidate on environmental issues.

(4,168 posts)O'Malley may have an impressive resume, and that's to his credit, but his personality is not one that I can see winning over significant numbers of Democrats from either the Clinton or the Sanders camp.
You may think personality is "superficial" but it's far from that in a presidential race. It's a crucial component of connecting with an audience. O'Malley just doesn't project that in a persuasive way. I liked what I heard from him, I like what I read, I like him... but that's about as far as it gets. Tepid response.
If he does really well and gives Hillary Clinton a run for her money by this time next year, feel free to say "I told you so" and I'll concede your were right.

(11,495 posts)O'Malley has a pretty good record of getting things done, not just talking about them. We need someone who can do that in the WH. If you check out his record you might change your mind.
