By Carol MorganAlmost 70 years ago, Gandhi unknowingly summed up the typical life cycle of a social justice movement: First they ignore you, then they hate you, then you win.
Fast forward to the present and were witnessing Gandhis pronouncement in real time. The media is ignoring Bernie Sanders and his populist campaign for President. Sure sure a few sporadic feature articles sprout up here and there, most of which claim Bernie Sanders cant win, but those naysayers are living in a protective bubble; one that will eventually burst.
Bernie Sanders CAN win. If youre one of those who claim otherwise, then youre not paying attention.
The corporate media cannot ignore the crowds that turn out for Bernie; numbers that grow larger and larger each week. Urbanites in red states turn out in the thousands as demonstrated by the 11,000 in Phoenix, and last weekends town halls; 10,000 in Dallas and 9,000 in Houston. One can only imagine the numbers for Bernies rally in NOLA on the 26th because Bobby Jindal (whos rarely in his office in Baton Rouge) has almost single-handedly destroyed Louisianas economy and its education system and Louisianans are full of anger.
Corporate media cant ignore that over 250,000 Americans have signed up to volunteer to elect Senator Sanders.
They cant ignore that Sanders donations have accumulated to over $15.2 million in a little over two months. And you wont find billionaire donors in his campaign cash, just regular Americans, some donating to a political candidate for the first time ever. His 250,000 donors gave an average of $33 each.
Americans trust Bernie Sanders and thats something that billionaire donors cannot buy. He typifies that last honest man whom Diogenes sought long ago.
Despite all of this, corporate media and the purchased politicians of both parties claim Bernie Sanders is not a viable candidate. They dismiss him as some sort of extremist, despite the fact that the majority of Americans agree with him on almost every issue. And you can see his issues HERE, HERE, and HERE.
His political views and issues havent changed in 25 years, unlike other candidates who have come out only recently for issues like an increased minimum wage, getting money out of the political process, nationalized health care and free college. Bernie has never wavered on any of these issues throughout his years in Washington. Its merely taken America some time to catch up to him.
Just as Bernie said, his campaign is not about him, it is a political revolution. 2015 will definitely be remembered as the Summer of Sanders.
Some may not realize it, but the American middle class faces a final tipping point in the 2016 elections. The culmination of thirty years of declining wages, disappearing benefits, the lie of trickle-down economics, the changing nature of employment in America from stable work to the temporary, contract uberization of the workforce, along with the increasing cost of lifes bare essentials is leading to a slow painful death of the American economy which relies on consumer spending for 70 percent of its economic growth.
The corporate world not only continues to erode the economic survival of Americas working and middle class, but it threatens the final vestige of control that Americans havethe ballot box. 2016 is our last chance to break free of the corporate control of America and get back to equal opportunity for all Americans. If we do not, we can expect more economic pain and social dominance.
Its your choice.
On Wednesday, July 29th at 7:00 p.m. (CST), millions of Americans will gather together to pledge and plan their involvement in Bernie Sanders political revolution. Americans everywhere, all at the same moment in time--in metropolitan areas, suburbs, small towns, mountain enclaves, seaside resorts, farming communities, red states and blue states will gather to organize with Bernie Sanders himself via satellite television.
If you want to get involved with the first organizational meeting in Lubbock for the Bernie Sanders political revolution, go to the FB link at West Texans for Bernie to make a note of the meetings location, confirm your attendance and join up with other citizens who believe we only have ONE last chance to wrestle America from corporate domination.

It really isn't that difficult since I don't have to toggle between the screens. I'm able to keep multiple tabs open on my desktop thanks to a Mozilla Firefox app.
