Stephen was dancing and having fun while Fox was reporting all the bad news.
That reminds me of the episode of "Married with Children" when Marcy is given the task of notifying people when they are fired. When she gives her presentation they don't care they are being fired. She has a fear of public speaking so she imagines she is having sex in the bedroom while giving the bad news.
