From what i hear it was 3 women from blm.
Sanders should demand they let him speak and get security to remove them if they don't leave.

REASON FOR ALERT
This post is disruptive, hurtful, rude, insensitive, over-the-top, or otherwise inappropriate.
ALERTER'S COMMENTS
"You are so full of shit" is just rude and personally insulting. It's possible to disagree by saying You are wrong/mistaken/incorrect but calling someone "full of shit" is personal and hurtful.

I agree with Juror #4 and the other 4 jurors besides me that voted to hide. Even though I'm a Sanders supporter, I voted to hide the "You are so full of shit" #223 post. So we're not all unfair jerks that only vote to hide supporters of candidates we oppose.
I would just add that I see daily abuse by Hillary supporters as well, and that too needs to stop (but obviously won't, just like rude comments by Sanders supporters won't disappear anytime soon. But its important to hide the obvious over-the-line posts, as at least it cuts down on the numbers of them. Anyway, the primaries will be all over in less than a year )

Ken Burch
(50,254 posts)Publicly...tonight...at the larger rally...
But I really don't think it's intentional racism...it's frustration(which, unfortunately sometimes can sound racist and should never sound that way) that the most anti-racist candidate in the race, arguably the most anti-racist candidate since Jesse Jackson-no attack on the president intended there, just the observation that he didn't say much on the issue until the last two years or so) is still being treated as though he can't be trusted to be reliably anti-racist as president. It's that he is still treated, for no real reason, as more suspicious on those issues than anyone else in the race.
blm gains nothing from the race being reduced to just HRC, Biden, O'Malley and Confederate Flag Guy.
bravenak
(34,648 posts)They don't quite understand why people think they are racist. They do not have that intuitive way about them. They think policy is king, but emotions win elections. They do not get it.
When you have ten thousand white folks harassing a thousand black folks, while a bunch of other white fokjs takk about how terrible those black folks act, it LOOKS racist and it is. They expect white behavior and will jump in and do anything in their power to get us black folks to behave the way they want us to. Such unruly negroes.
This shit is not because Bernie sucks. He is better than most of his fans on this. He might have to tell you guys that shit like thi happens to every candidate, but the reaponse from his fans is bordering onPUMA territory. Black people will not go belong to the group that calls them names and harasses them, even if they have the better candidate. That is the issue imo.

(42,641 posts)How can a liberal possibly be a white supremacist?
We all know who the white supremacists are. They are the people wearing the white robes and pointy hats burning crosses and lynching people, right?
What about liberals who sign welfare "reform" laws and sentencing "reform" laws that just happen to target non-whites? Are they also white supremacists?
What about liberals who benefit from white preference while saying nothing about it? What about white liberals who live in all white neighborhoods and only associate with other white people? Supremacy or coincidence?
What about liberals who say "all lives matter" as a correction to "black lives matter"? Yes, all lives DO matter, but white 12 year olds are not getting murdered by the police in parks. Whites are not getting killed for failure to signal a turn, for selling loose cigarettes, for having a missing license plate, for walking in the street. Only blacks are suffering from these things.
Keep talking bravenak. Maybe people will start listening.

They want to fix black people's thinking and educate us on how to behave more acceptably to them as white folks.
They theeated to not support black lives unless we behave the way they want.
They whitesplain black poverty to black people.
I already bitched Hillary out on a thread yesterday about Welfare reform. Didn't know I was supposed to do it all day everyday.
They do not know they are acting racist because when somebody tells them they find a hundred white voices to drown out the 10 black ones. That is white supremacy. It happens all day everyday. We live with it.

Code Pink and Occupy's issues (war and income inequality, to name a few) affect black lives. I attended numerous Occupy and Moral Monday events in Raleigh. The simple fact is that he didn't walk away because he doesn't care about black lives. He walked away because the people on stage we're acting irrational and emotionally charged. So as a gay person, I'm a huge opponent of Liberty and that community, but I do not get where your 'most hateful racist place' is coming from. The place does not even have a white majority. It has a Christian majority. Ya know?
Also, as a gay person I would like to inject here that Obama's primary campaign featured a 'Faith and Family' tour of South Carolina, which had as speakers and entertainers several evangelists of the openly anti gay sort, hate preachers who had said gay people kill children appeared on that stage for Obama. Some of them preached against gay people right then and there.
Why did Obama do this? According to Obama he did it to win votes and reach out to people who might not agree with him about everything. DU at that time was very strongly supportive of Obama doing events with anti gay preachers. LGBT critics of those events were attacked and shredded to bits.

What is happening now...I won't comment. So many thoughts running around my head and a lot of them at odds with each other.
But the worse thing to do, is to forget that they are talking about Black Lives that have been cut short due to racism. You don't throw them off stage.

(32,886 posts)Down thread, a person who uses a Che Guevara icon (who advocated guerrilla warfare and violent Revolution all over the globe to achieve left wing goals) said the protesters were too aggressive and complained they were using intimidation tactics.
I think I have found that far too many folks are only supportive of protest and struggle when they give permission. If their sacred cow is being protested, then the rights and goals of protesters don't matter, they should just shut up, even in the case of BLM who are literally protesting to save lives.

You use the word racism as a cudgel to "win" arguments, but that's not particularly effective when it's really just name calling to avoid discussion. You've tossed out the accusation that it's racist for people to find Kanye West untalented. At that point, it was clear to me that you aren't using the term in any meaningful sense other than to attack people.

(11,441 posts)Occupiers and MM protesters were beaten, Tazed, pepper-sprayed, and/or arrested for peacefully protesting. (32,886 posts)Folks should have the right to protest and be heard with very few exceptions.
The only exception I've argued against was when tea party folks were disrupting town hall meetings with members of congress. One of the few times a year when people of a district can all Interact with their elected representative without having to travel.
I defended occupy, code pink, mm and everyone else in all other circumstances including the tea party who I thought were astroturfed and idiotic.
I certainly support a group trying to save the lives of black people who are being killed and abused by police in alarming numbers. What is more important than that right now?

(11 posts)There were three women and one man on stage, all black. But there were also what appeared to be organized supporters throughout the crowd -- especially the 8 or 10 white young people who raised the Black Lives Matter banner -- all dressed in black and making a rather Hitler Youth fashion statement. (Somebody please post a picture!) Yes, I would question who was really behind this -- maybe the Larouchies are still after Robbie Stern! -- but even if it was legitimately the local chapter of BLM, it's not like they have a moral monopoly on this issue.
The protesters antagonized the crowd by saying that they weren't going to let Bernie speak. Then after some conferring they were given the microphone for a while. They made some good points about racism in Seattle but mixed it in with insults to those present who didn't buy in to them having a right to seize the microphone. Then they announced that they weren't going to give Bernie the mike until the crowd observed a four and a half minute "moment" of silence for Michael Brown who lay on the ground for four and a half hours. Then that the moment wouldn't be considered to start until EVERYONE in the crowd was silent. This was a large crowd most of which was not very happy being dictated to this way, but it did quiet down to a surprising degree but four and a half silent minutes after waiting in the heat for almost two hours is a long time. After it seemed that the time was up they then wanted to start accusing Sanders of various things, still denying him a chance to respond.
If the protesters really wanted to ask Bernie some pointed questions, they completely blew their chance. I'm more inclined to believe the objective all along was just to embarrass the campaign and to start more twitter wars with people they will undoubtedly claim are white supremacists.

(11,441 posts)Nearly 1,000 of them. Peaceful Occupiers were pepper-sprayed, Tazed, beaten, and arrested.
The Seattle #BLM protesters were aggressive, threatening and close to physical, not meek little black women protesting police brutality. If they got any more physical, then yes, handcuffed and hauled out.
We'll see what comes of this, especially whether Sanders beefs up security. He's a soft target, and #BLM is exploiting that. Too bad Hillary won't come out from behind closed doors to see if #BLM would target her.

Too bad Hillary won't come out from behind closed doors. I'm not sure how many events O'Malley has had, but they seem to be leaving him alone. Even though as Baltimore mayor, he advanced racist policies and aggressive policing, or so I've heard on DU. You'd think #BLM would be all over that, eh?
Daniel537
(1,560 posts)Can you imagine if Bernie gave a "non-definitive" answer on that subject? Please.
