Paul Finds Success Through Obstruction of Senate Bills

By Jeff Bliss on June 28, 2012

In an age of voter disgust at Congress’s inability to get anything done, Senator Rand Paul is finding success through obstruction.

Paul, a Kentucky Republican, is developing a following that rivals the one devoted to his father, presidential candidate and Texas Representative Ron Paul. The younger Paul has done it, in part, by repeatedly insisting that Senate leaders schedule votes on amendments he’s pursuing on issues such as abortion or gun rights -- or he’ll delay major, bipartisan legislation.

This week, as the Senate convened to pass a backlog of bills before the Fourth of July holiday, Paul demanded a guaranteed vote first on defining life as starting at conception, as part of a bill renewing national flood insurance. Majority Leader Harry Reid postponed the debate rather than yield to what he called in a June 26 floor speech a “ridiculous” request.

Paul has used similar tactics to try to cut aid to Egypt and Pakistan, bolster gun rights, reduce union membership among Washington residents and highlight privacy concerns connected with proposed changes to a U.S.-Switzerland tax treaty ...

Like revoke his parking privileges at the Capitol and the airport.
Make sure the cafeteria workers know who Rand Paul is and how he hates them. hint hint spit in his food
Arrange for the temperature in his office to be too cold or too warm.
Misdirect any communications that he requests.
Provide elegant fragrances fresh from the city waste treatment facilities in the office.
Alert DC police that there might be a warrant out for him.

Being Senate Majority Leader is not an easy task when there are weak minded members in the majority party and the margin is slim.

doesn't matter whether your republican or democrat hes fighting for your constitutional rights. he has principles unlike most in Washington whether you agree with what he does or not, he is one of the few not corrupted by special interest groups and part of doing that job well is to stop bad bills like CISPA, NDAA, Patriot Act, and many others. Hes one of the few people in Washington you can trust.

he actually has principles and is not bought and paid for by special interests. Gary Johnson is even better though.

Conservatives are all about giving more power to state and local governments. Except for the ones that elect black people.
