Beginning in 2006/2007 Obama had a lot of media coverage, it was mostly All negative, but his name was constantly put in front of people by the corporate media. People can do some research when given a name is put in front of them, not so when they ignore you.

want Bernie to get attention. Because he is a threat to them. Even MSNBC is guilty of this, and they are beccoming less liberal anyway with the recent shakeup. The media probably wants a HRC vs. Jeb election. And though HRC must be elected over any of the clowns for the sake of our country, her positions not supporting a $15 minimum wage, free college education, Glass-Stegall and more shows she won't change things like Bernie would.

Thanks for the thread! Great to see the crowds. Whatever happens, Bernie is showing there is plenty of support growing for progressive candidates.

...but unfortunately with all the "turnout" that he's getting as a curiosity piece, he still hasn't cracked 20% in the polls and his major opponent is more than 2-1/2 that nationally:

National - Clinton 54, Sanders 18
Iowa - Clinton 56, Sanders 26
South Carolina - Clinton 78, Sanders 8
North Carolina - Clinton 56, Sanders 21
Florida - Clinton 62, Sanders 17
New Hampshire - Clinton 43, Sanders 38

Seems the "surge" has stalled.

people get to hear about him. and it's only been a few months since he was a virtual unknown. Amazing.

He's now just a few poits behind Clinton in NH and HAS 'cracked' as you call it, up to 35% in some polls, and in the one poll of Independents I have seen, he's 10 points ahead of Hillary.

Bernie has what is called 'momentum' and is exciting people everywhere he goes.

For every one person at those rallies, there are tens of thousands more who are learning him because of them.

...in the the leveled off polls for the last month or so.

Yes, he's in the 30s in New Hampshire, but the fact that he's not ahead in his neighboring state with a demographic identical to his home state next door says a lot. That is the only state where he's above 26% or more than half of Clinton's poll numbers.

What polls show him 10% ahead of Clinton?

Finally, regarding this statement: "For every one person at those rallies, there are tens of thousands more who are learning him because of them."? If there really were 70,000 a his recent rallies, that statement means that 700 million people are "learning him". Surely not in THIS country of only 325 million.

Social media is how many people are getting their news.

These crowds are a result of social media.

Corporate media still pretends it's not happening.

In Tennessee, to be exact.

My city isn't all that conservative (all four of the largest cities in Tennessee have Democratic leadership, despite the redness of the rest of the state), but I'm still in contact with a variety of people and nearly every Democrat I know who is NOT in government is for Bernie. Those elected officials, ironically, are Hillary fans.

Granted, it's not a scientific poll, but given the numbers of people I come in contact with who LOVE this guy in this deep red state, I think a shockwave is headed to knock the corporate media on their collective behinds.

(BTW, Trump is the most popular among the Republicans I know)

43. you have hit on a valuable point that we Bernie people could exploit
Tue Aug 11, 2015, 12:57 AM

I understand sit ins in factories, road and bridge shutdowns and supported boycotts have been some of the most successful tactics employed by social movements. Your statement raises the question again of employing these tactics again. For example the Occupy Movement could come Back for Bernie. I understand some in the movement have officially endorsed his candidacy and occupy is about as close as we can get at this point to factory style sit ins and they are the type of demonstrations that call out the oligarchy and their servant politicians. Blocking of roads and bridges may not be targeted adequate for a political candidate to use.
While boycotts were not a new thought for me, the idea of targeted boycotts of main stream media would appear to have a potential of great success. I believe that so many in this country now recognize they are not getting the news but rather the selection of that news to further support the oligarchy that owns those companies, that we have the capability to affect and broaden their coverage of Bernie Sanders and the movement of, by and for the people that is marching stronger everyday via word of mouth, pamphlets , handouts, Bernie speeches and limited appearances, and the internet as an alternative to Main Stream Media. I know it is a matter of pride that many of us turn away from so called main stream media and I believe we should couple that with a campaign to refer to it as Wall Street Media or some other fitting title and ask people to turn off all advertisement sponsored television for one day. If we do this. we will suffer nothing but listening to what they want us to believe. This does not just apply to news programs but cop shows like Bluebloods where they greatly overestimate the threats posed to police and the impediment protection of civil rights poses to them in their work. I do not know where this all started, when Andy Griffin of May berry being seen as a good policeman who operated without violation of civil rights in a community not infested with crime (I note it was all white) turned into Hill Street Blues, justifying abuses of civil rights with its sending the police out each morning with the warning be careful it is a jungle out there,, glorifying the police and blaming the community with that self fulfilling prophecy.
But in any case we could boycott Main Stream Media (Wall Street Media) until they shape up or lose millions of dollars in advertising, and at the same time voice our disapproval of attacks on the internet, the democracy supporting medium. What do you think?? I think we can directly link their non or biased coverage of Bernie to the boycott and fight the oligarchy by reducing their income, and pressure main stream media to give more balanced coverage to Bernie and other issues. Just sayin---

It was a wonderful night, even if I didn't get inside. Lots of vibrant, diverse, creative and informed people.

Even the Metro light rail was jammed with folks heading to Exposition Park. Funny thing, so many of us Angelenos are still addicted to driving, we all needed coaching on how to use a TAP card and buy a ticket at the station. A tourist from out of the area laughed and said 'you Los Angeles people suck at using public transportation'. Indeed.

The Pied piper Bernie Sanders for the middle class, while the GOP wants to put our interest last, he’s gon give it to you raw, no hesitation, with the right ideas to lead this great nation, no handouts no special interests groups, he don’t lie to get votes he’s telling you the truth, and while the media wants to down play him, He’s still gonna fight tell em all he ain’t playing, pushing for higher wages so we all can feed our families, The only one I know who can conquer this Insanity, of this wall street bickering, belittling the poor, dollar bills only thing they’re considering, when people need health care, kids need school, when it comes to politics Bernie’s breaking rules, no attack ads on the competition needed, he’s running on the facts and its something that we needed,

Feel the Bern, make em Feel the Bern, all the way to the White House Feel The Bern,
Feel the Bern, make em Feel the Bern, tell the haters on the Right, They can feel the Bern,
Feel the Bern, make em Feel the Bern, all the way to the White House Feel The Bern,
Feel the Bern, make em Feel the Bern, tell the haters on the Left, They can feel the Bern,

You see them scared shook, “he’s a democratic socialist”, but they don’t even know what it means they just roll with it, get over it, check the resume, fighting for civil rights ever since the first day, while other candidates, still with their hands out, we do it old school grassroots standout, cuz this is our time to have our voices heard, you fat cats had your chance now it’s our turn, they say he can’t win cuz he’s just too liberal, way too extreme, too honest, too cynical, they want another robot politician, the same old rhetoric, now they’re gonna listen

Seriously. The massive media attempt to ignore Bernie Sanders in favor of the clown-car GOP shit-show is getting really annoying.

At the most they have been able to bring in only a third of what Sanders has and they had to do it with manditory attendance rules.
