In order not to ignore BLM, does Clinton and O'Malley have to give up their microphones too?

Or does that standard only apply to Sanders?

Of course, taking back our government and restoring it to a democracy that works for the people can't be something they want presented to the masses, so maybe that's why Bernie is being held to a different standard.

This article was written by a journalist (Darlena Cunha) who writes about parenting. Funny, one of the first things my mother preached about was fairness.

11. Bernie also should have taken the opportunity after the NN as O'Malley did to sit down with BLM.

He did not, again there was Seattle, yes he had the benefit to have sat down before Seattle. Even before NN, Hillary was already addressing BLM and their issues. Bernie's campaign should have been on top of this, especially having participated in protest in his life.

It's disingenuous to judge Bernie's actions before the fact by the actions that O'Malley and HRC took after the fact.

Not the same thing at all.

Thank you for playing.

I guess only Corporate Democrats and Corporate Republicans are afforded that opportunity.

other than to demean individuals who are part of the Black Lives Matter Movement. This is the second person to try & post this article as some kind of gotcha piece. Instead I as a minority woman in this country trying to raise 2 teenage boys have once again pulled out the piece's I found important:

After protestors with the “Black Lives Matter” movement took the stage during a Bernie Sanders rally in Seattle Saturday to criticize the presidential candidate for not paying enough attention to issues of race, the Sanders campaign came up with a solution: It decided to shout down future protestors with the phrase, “We stand together.”

This is the worst idea in the campaign’s short life. Think about it: It involves hundreds of mostly white people shouting what is essentially “All lives matter” at the black people who dare to attempt to be heard.

Snip>

That’s wrong. You cannot look at a group of people living in fear and dying in droves and tell them they are protesting incorrectly. It’s easy to sit back and critique the method when it isn’t your life on the line. But if someone were being choked, the last thing they would need is a passerby saying, “I’d love to help you out. But could you at least say “please?” Convince me why I should save your life, and do it politely.”

White people have the time and the luxury to wait for the system we created to work in our favor. Black people do not, and that has been made clear in the last few months. If a million microphones have to be torn from a million rich, white politicians in a rude fashion to get that message heard, then I support that 100%.

Snip

This had nothing to do with just one white guy running for office, it has to do with all the white folks that are going for office.

5. I am not demeaning BLM. I'm asking why some journalist on Time.com

should be making that demand of Bernie, and only Bernie, and as far as how Bernie has been treated compared to all of the other candidates on both sides of the aisle. And there are PLENTY of Black Americans that have asked the same question (including people I know personally).

As far as the "we are united" goes - it doesn't seem that Clinton or O'Malley have to even think of a response because the rules of the campaign are different for them. And I believe the chant was the idea of Symone Sanders, the Black Woman Activist he hired for his campaign.

And the article does not even mention how Bernie had her speak before him to address the concerns of BLM and then further discussed it in his speech. Instead the article just gives the impression that he wanted to silence any discussion of what is happening to Black Americans which is not the case.

It's O'Malley on stage at the Netroots event that gave up his microphone, and who stayed "after" the event and sat down and talked with the group, and answered questions. Playing the victim card for Bernie is not the way to go, and Bernie can handle this by himself without having some of his supporters trying to make only "him" into the victim all the time.

& they've been to Jeb Bush's event as well. Why should Bernie get a free pass?
