Statement by Hillary Clinton on Endorsement by the International Association of Machinists and Aeros

Hillary Clinton released the following statement after the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, a diverse industrial trade union with nearly 600,000 members, endorsed her candidacy for President of the United States.

“As a longtime supporter of organized labor and a proud honorary member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, I am honored to receive IAM’s endorsement for President. “Unions like IAM have long been the soul and the spine of the American economy, fighting for good jobs and worker’s rights from coast to coast. After years of declining employment and deep losses during the recession, businesses are recognizing that creating good, manufacturing jobs here in the United States gives them access to a resource unparalleled anywhere else in the world—a well-educated, highly-trained, productive workforce. “But we must do more to get more American factories humming again—and create more good-paying union jobs for American workers. That's why I've said that the defining economic challenge of our time is getting incomes rising steadily and strongly for everyday Americans. As President, I will fight for everyone who shares that goal. I plan to expand the New Markets Tax Credit to help drive private investment to manufacturing communities, and crack down on the tax loopholes that allow corporations to shift jobs, earnings, and investment overseas. I will stand against Republican budget cuts, and plans to privatize or slash Social Security and retirement benefits. I will work with unions, including IAM, to significantly increase investment in apprenticeship programs, which provide a pathway to middle-class jobs through paid training. And I will fight hard every day to ensure that all workers have the fundamental right to organize, to join a union, and to retire with dignity and security after decades of hard work. “Over the course of decades, strong unions like IAM helped build the mighty American middle class. I’m proud that IAM will stand with me in fighting for a brighter future for our families, our economy, and our country.”

Union sides with Bernie: "Yay! Feel the Bern!"
Union sides with Hillary: "The fix is in! It's an evil union! Monkey pancakes!"

Gonna have to raise a stink at the Union Hall.

Well, Bernie still wins the primary and IAM gets to change their endorsement.

I have only met one Bernie supporter IRL. I am going to a Democratic picnic and fundraiser Sunday. I will let you know what I see there. I know there will be a lot of activists there, people who have supported Democratic candidates in the past, and done the real work, as opposed to people who are very vocal on the internet.

Maybe I will meet another Bernie supporter. LOL.

Maybe you want to start with the 18 M who voted for her last time, given the choice of a dynamic alternative.

Or maybe the 38,600 individuals who contributed to her campaign (Bernie had 29,000).

Fee free to ask around; we're out there.

You could very well be correct in using this comparison as a prime example.

What does she mean by that? I guess it's another vacuous platitude that means nothing and/or can't quite be disproved.
