I have an absolute, set-in-stone prediction about Bernie.

No matter how much he gets done, no matter what challenges he faces down -- one year into his administration, someone on this board's going to complain that he hasn't done nearly enough.

And someone commenting on that thread will suggest he's a Wall Street tool.

And on that day, I'm going to post a link to this thread on that thread.

My father was a life long member of the Democratic party. Without fail he fell in love with the dem candidate for whatever office and without fail he found faults with them after they were in office a while. I try to limit my fault finding with the dark side. It is easy as they are fish in a barrel.

Since FDR, no one, imo, can be compared with him (possible exceptions Henry Wallace, Eugene Debs, Shirley Chisolm, RFK).

He is not corruptible in the way 99% of candidates are, so while I don't expect perfection, I expect a much higher standard. I have never believed in a candidate like this in my 60 year life. I loved Gore, but I did not have these expectations.

He will be thrown under the bus within a year if not sooner because no president can do what far too many here expect.

And it will most likely be one of the same bunch who threw president Obama under the bus pretty right after he was elected. Some people here have their own agenda, and it's not helping democrats win elections or supporting them.

The same goes for Elizabeth Warren's views on Wall Street, very similar to Bernie's.
There will be areas that he will disappoint progressives, moderates, and conservatives. That goes with the job.
On progressive issues like human rights, worker's rights, health care, education, environment, he will not disappoint progressives.

Is a pipe dream. A plan to retake the House and Senate and the State houses would be a lot more effective in changing things. The way it is now the next President, if Democratic, will be playing defense. The Rs will not cower when Bernie takes the podium.

I haven't been on this site for a long while. I've had to contend with my BAAAAAAAD government in Australia. What an embarrassment. Anyway, in my opinion, I think that Hilary is a reasonably good candidate but she is carrying a fair bit of baggage. Bernie sounds great but maybe he is a bit old. I even heard that Al Gore might be thinking of giving it a go again. I like him for his environment knowledge. I also read that Joe Biden is tossing up about it. Not good.

Its good that Hilary has some competition because maybe some scandal might appear on the horizon for her. I'm sure the Republican "dirt squad" is burning the midnight oil in the effort to find something on her.

I like Bernie the best. He might be a bit old, but then again, how old was Reagan? Bernie, I'm sure, will be a president for the people.
