(9,688 posts)But I find it a bit awkward as said by Hillary, in midst of her campaign, to minimize a criticism of her judgement.
She's handled this all wrong from the beginning when she had IT technicians set up her private server as prep for her stint as SOS. That was a calculated move from a seasoned politician (it wasn't done because she doesn't like to carry two cell-phones!), and it was done with full knowledge that she'd be running in 2016 and that it would be an issue. When it did become an issue she stalled and stalled, dragging it out - maybe so she can show how much of a "fighter" she is? - but at best it looks just plain stupid.
But it's a diversion. Her credentials as SOS aren't all that good. Her "Friends of Libya" and "Friends of Syria" operations are her signature deeds in the ME, and they were from hell, and because of them the out of control situation got even more inflamed so now it's purest insanity. Yah, GWB "started it", but her followup work was a disaster. Things only started looking better in Obama's 2nd term, with Hillary gone. It's like a weight was lifted from Obama's administration, allowing the start of a slow turnaround.

She still has to work on relaxing and being more natural.
It seems like she double-processes everything she says, to make sure she doesn't make a mistake. This creates a rather wooden and robotic expression to her face and voice. While Obama is fluid and pauses and pauses at times to construct sentences, Clinton speaks slower and more deliberately as the sentences are spoken. This mannerism lends an air of unnaturalness to her being.

(885 posts)Just a simple criticism of speaking style. I happen to type the way she talks, very deliberately and usually reading what I write multiple times before posting. It works better in text form.
Bernie is far from a perfect speaker also for other reasons. He often comes across humorless and intense even when he's not.
Let's face it, Bill and Barack just have the touch when it comes to giving an eloquent speech (for different reasons).

(67,782 posts)...I saw Clinton speak at a Dan Malloy rally during Malloy's first campaign.
Clinton walked on stage with NO notes and no teleprompter.
He spoke for fifty minutes, citing all sorts of statistics, financial numbers, anecdotes, etc., many of them directly related to or about Connecticut. It was one of the most interesting talks (can't be called a speech) I've seen in my life.
I was sorry to see it end.

(9,070 posts)Now that would be funny! Can you imagine Trey trying to explain? I'll bet someone on the staff could fill that server up with photoshop and a little imagination.
