2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumTonight 4 of our 5 candidates spoke at the Wing Ding Dinner in Iowa
All did well, all were well received, but as Lincoln Chafee started speaking (following HRC, Sanders, and O'Malley), I got proud.
Each and every one of our candidates is a decent honest person. Each one would make a good President and would work to improve our Country.
Contrast that with the miserable screw-ups on the GOP side. Buffoons, assholes, grifters, holy rollers, and frauds, to the very last. Three of them, including their front runner, have never been elected or served in any position. Whether they are creating traffic on our roads or gridlock in our nation they shouldn't have a spot in our government.
Rest easy DU, we've got this.

(7,300 posts)I remember when Texas Democrats "rested easy" and Dumbya won the governor's office along with a Repuke majority in Austin.
We are lucky to have serious, quality and very qualified candidates but they'll only win if we get out the vote. Also, don't forget about the voting machines still in use. The margin of victory must be large enough to negate or make obvious any vote flipping that will likely occur. Couple that with the voter suppression laws many states have instituted, fewer polling stations in Democratic neighborhoods, we have a a lot of work to do.

(11,589 posts)Thanks FSogol.
We really do have a wealth of riches.
We are lucky that we can actually get down into the weeds and discuss policy and minutia over personality and popularity when it comes to who we want to see get the nomination and in the end we can be pretty damn fine with whoever our party collectively chooses.
Excellent post, sir.
We got this.

(47,803 posts)I often wonder when I see politicians how much of my emotional reaction to them is based on agreement or disagreement with their political stances and party.
In other words, could I like this guy/woman if they agreed with me?
Not one of thoe bozos -- with the possible exception of John Kasik (sp) -- could I see supporting if they were a Democratic liberal instead of a GOP conservative.
