Steve Sack (born 1953) is a liberal leaning American cartoonist who won a 2013 Pulitzer Prize for editorial cartooning. With Craig Macintosh he draws the cartoon activity panel Doodles and he is editorial cartoonist for the Minneapolis Star Tribune, where he started in 1981. Both Doodles and Sack's editorial cartoons are distributed by Creators Syndicate.

In our "some say" culture those who hound can get away with lies and innuendo and faux outrage. The fact that Bernie supporters aren't disgusted by this fact but use it is a horrific bit of self-serving. Were he to begin to be recognized as a real threat they might wish they had objected more.

Glen Taylor, owner of the Star Tribune, is big-time Republican.

against an accomplished and qualified Democratic candidate, there is an embracing of it if it's against your candidate's opponent. I stand with whatever Democratic candidate wins the nomination. I am not a one or two issue supporter. They both support enough issues I support that I would be happy with either one. I find no joy or reward in vilifying either candidate, nor in particular using RW propaganda to do so.

even the San Diego UT, which was owned by Doug Manchester and was (still is) a rag,. was self described that way, but was not.

The best description is a conservative paper. And it is not the whole paper, it is the editorial page.

Regardless, the cartoonist leans liberal, like most cartoonists he slams everybody. I prefer to live in that reality. Maybe this will not make sense to you, but some of those self descriptors have to do with very local political conditions. For Manchester it is who he is, and who he hangs out as his friends (read the republican conservative establishment, in particular the Lincoln Club and the Chamber of Commerce.)

For the record, it did not work for Manchester, he sold out to the Tribune Company. So we are all hoping the UT goes back to it's glory days when they actually got Pullitzers.

The cartoonist has won those by the way.

SOME VERY CONSERVATIVE FOLKS HAVE BEEN BUYING LOCAL PAPERS TRYING TO INFLUENCE LOCAL POLITICS, THEY REFER TO THEIR NEW TOYS IN WAYS THAT IS TRACKING LOCALLY, BUT HAVE NOTHING TO DO WTIH REALITY. SO FAR WE HAVE HAD A FEW SELL THEIR NEW TOYS TO ACTUAL NEWS AGENCIES AFTER THEIR INVESTMENT FAILS TO PUT PEOPLE THEY WANT IN LOCAL POWER.

It is about local conditions.

and a business owner who goes after failed enterprises

http://www.bizjournals.com/twincities/news/2015/06/16/glen-taylor-linked-to-275m-plus-bid-for-ohio-firm.html

And this is why he bought the paper

Glen Taylor: I would say they were coming out of bankruptcy and I was just reading about it. We’d done a number of bankruptcy deals in my other businesses, so I know a little bit about them. Sometimes there are some really good opportunities if you are the lead guy and you get in there. This one was a little bit more complicated, in that a lot of the creditors had picked up the stock and that type of stuff.

So, at that time — it wasn’t just myself, it was a number of other people in Minnesota that kind of got together and said, “Gee, if it is going to come out of bankruptcy, maybe a bunch of us guys in Minnesota should pull this thing together and keep it here.” It wasn’t my controlling it and it wasn’t anything for sure.

https://www.minnpost.com/business/2014/04/glen-taylor-how-i-bought-star-tribune-and-what-i-paid

It is an investment to him, not unlike Manchester. So he deals in bankruptcy deals and Manchester is a local land mogul not unlike Trump. Jesus this is very basic. (and yes that might be seen by you as a personal attack, so be it)

And that group of investors will want their ROI back... so of course it is about local conditions.

He has been with the paper for more than 30 years, long before Glenn Taylor bought it. The Star Tribune used to be a very progressive paper, since Glenn Taylor bought it it has become more centrist. It is not a Republican paper but it is not the progressive paper it once was, they still do endorse Democrats more often than not but they do endorse Republicans sometimes as well. Steve Sack is one of the progressives the paper still employees however, he is not a right-winger by any stretch of the imagination.

people complain of the media, and when they are told their self descriptions are not quite correct, they hang on to it.

As Marmar said, I think even Stalin and Lenin would be a RW if they dared (from the grave) criticize HRC. Now by the way, that would be news worthy. Lenin talking from his Mausoleum would be quite impressive.
