Romney's offshore account is empty?

Jonathan Allen from Politico just reported on MSNBC that one of Robme's offshore accounts that he transferred to his wife was empty. If he transferred it to his wife, of course it's empty. However, because he transferred it to his wife the amount is protected and legal. So, in actuality, we don't know just how rich Robme is. If President Obama had a bank account that he transferred to his wife to keep the public from knowing what was in it, there would be a deafening outcry of, "What is he hiding?" Why are the Robmes being treated differently?

and their ratings go down.

The DNC needs to be hammering this.
Obama needs to be hammering this on the trail.

"Where are Mitt's taxes? What is he hiding?"

10. True, we can't just blame the media

We know the media today are a shell of what true journalists should be.

They long ago betrayed their sacred duty to the public as the Fourth Estate.

However, the people we can blame are the Obama campaign and the DNC. Why haven't they made a bigger issue of this? Ever since the primaries when Romney released 1 year of returns, he has gotten off easy and succeeded in making the issue go away.

They need to do 2 things:

1. Remind the public that he has only released 1 year, unlike the 12 his father released.

2. Tell the public that he gave multiple years to McCain when he was being vetted for V.P. in 2008, so why isn't he giving the public the same right to know that McCain had?

2. Because he's a Republican!

The media are part of the "horse race" and making money trying to keep Romney and the Republicans relevant for the upcoming election.

Romney has had 1 interview on a Sunday am show that wasn't Fox News and he couldnt answer questions that were easily lobbed at him...

He lies constantly and no one really picks it up... I know Rachel and a few newspapers have covered his lies. And it's crazy because no one who is running for office lies this much. They normally stretch items and opponents records... But this guy just lies, and if a reporter asks him why he said such and such, he will stand there without blinking or hesitating and sayhe never said it, like there isn't video tape of him doing so.

3. This guy is running to be POTUS

Anyone who is running for POTUS should have to make their wealth public knowledge. All of their tax returns need to be public. We need to know how he got his wealth and when.

I am less concerned if he is worth $100M, $250M or $500M, than how much has he paid in taxes, and how he got the money.

It is his choice to run, and there for has given up the right to privacy. He should be an open book.

4. If it was empty

There would be no reason to transfer it to his wife or to keep it offshore. Someone is making his offshore assets disappear before the investigations get too deep.

5. Unless it were specifically set as a ZBA, it would close.

A ZBA is a zero-balance account. It's as the name would suggest, an account that does not close when the balance is 0 and is operated explicitly to post a balance of $0. (Any shortfall is administered by a back-up account, any overage is dispersed according to guidelines written at time of opening but typically in the form of a deposit to a second account or a check.) It's not something one can go to the bank and request; not even if you're Romney or in Switzerland--they're used for a specific number of purposes, most of which are for legal-reasons.

8. WHICH of his offshore accounts is empty, and how long has it been that way?

"Romney's offshore account" is like "Romney's house." The choice is vast.

That, and Michelle's going with all those sleeveless dresses.

Makes them nuts, and I can't get enough of it.
