You know I remember the local "mom & pop" hardware store. That was of course before Walmart.

(12,272 posts)His plan consists of building the Keystone pipeline to add jobs, costing more money than can be make but at least it will be more federal money, which Mitt knows all about milking.
Oil sands look like a boon, but the current ability to extract usable oil costs more than it makes and causes disastrous pollution. You can bet that Mitt's plan includes the vast shale oil in and around Utah, but he can't say that out loud.

(47,675 posts)We still have local hardware stores. You can get one screw, bolt, washer, or whatever else out of the bins. The box stores all sell them in odd numbers so you have to buy two packages or end up with an extra and you can't test-fit them. I needed a bolt for my back brace and after half an hour we finally found the one that fit. I bought four just to have extras. The hardware salesman helped me out the entire time. No shrink wrap, just test-fit it and find the right one. That's a disappearing service model, but ours keeps on going because that's what people like me appreciate. I get all of my keys made there and it's my first stop for almost everything.

I have a feeling Mitt's reverse-Midas touch is even more powerful.
