I love this quote. I do believe it is true.

Top Senate Democrat Praises Clinton and Sanders As Republicans Rip Each Other To Shreds

In a conference call with reporters on Wednesday, Women’s Equality Day, Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA) drew a stark contrast between Republicans’ refusal to support legislation to ensure equal pay and their relentless efforts to turn back the clock to a time when women often died if they needed an abortion.

During the call the Senator, who was championing 2016 Democratic presidential candidate Secretary Hillary Clinton’s policies for women and men (equal pay, income inequality, affordable college, etc.), was asked about how 2016 Democratic presidential candidate Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) was doing and if there was tension between them.

Boxer said there was “no” tension, noting the “difference between Republican field and Democratic field.”

The Democratic California Senator made the case that both candidates agree on the issues and there is no animosity there, “You hear Republicans going after each other with fierce animosity. What you hear when you hear Bernie Sanders talking about income inequality, student loans, Hillary Clinton shares those views, Bernie Sanders shares those views. There is no animosity there. He’s a good friend of mine, he says it straight from the heart and that’s all good for us. He likes to pound the table and she likes to bring people along.”...............

Very unlike the chopped up Hillary "quotes" that are flung around here without any link to the original source.

Boxer went on to continue to praise both candidates and contrast their ccivil tone to each otehr compared to the attacking the GOP is doing against each other.

I disagree with Boixer, because I think the differences on issues are more clearcut, but -- so far at least -- Sanders and Clinton have been civil to each other.

Would be nice if we could be the same on DU, but I guess that's not in the DNA of a political message board.

but playing it up changes the context.

She obviously likes both of them, and was just making an off-hand remark about their personalities. Takling it on ts own and playing it up gives it a meaning that is larger than the actual comment, IMO.

She's right. Sanders talks about the 1% and how legislatively we need to demand more of them. He talks about raising the min wage, new financial legislation, expanding the social safety net. All things the gov't will do under him.

Hillary it seems is saying that she supports these things but she wants to get the 1% on board not by mandating it with legislation but by making the case to them that it's the right thing to do. She want to encourage them to do the right thing by giving them tax breaks and stuff to do it rather than just passing a law that TELLS them to. Rather than creating new programs to expand Social Security or other safety net programs thru the gov't she would like to get companies to expand the private safety net by giving them tax breaks to do it rather than a new gov't programs.

So Sanders is about sort of taking it by force and Hillary is about creating a climate where the rich and powerful want to do it. She has so many of the ruling elite as friends and also former staff members work in the banking and financial sector, or are billionaires so she can just ask them as friends to let more trickle down to the poor and ruling classes.

Look I don’t believe you change hearts. I believe you change laws, you change allocation of resources, you change the way systems operate.

No touchy-feely for her!

By the way, every time I see your screen name I wonder "Is it river's edge" or "river sedge"? I like the imagery of both. But, as a lifelong gardener, I always read it as river sedge.
