4 Issues Where Hillary Can Edge Out Bernie IMO:

Not getting into specific policy and who has better ideas, etc. Just as far as winning voters over (so "perception" is part of the equation).

1. Gun Control - Hillary is on-topic with this, pretty much every single day. This seems to be one of her core issues. Bernie can be portrayed as more "nuanced" and has some previous "pro-hunter" legislation in his background. Even though they might both be equally good on this issue, I think Hillary can edge Bernie out on this one, with voter perception.

2. Women's Health Issues - Hillary will be perceived as being more "invested" in this issue than Bernie (for obvious reasons). Fair or not, I believe this is Hillary's issue.

3. Experience - Hillary has been in the public eye since 1992. Bernie is a relatively "fresh face" to most Americans (not that he hasn't been busy getting things done - but most Americans are not paying attention like we are at DU). I think Hillary can edge Bernie out here too, because she's perceived as having been involved in national politics for far longer. And I don't believe the meme that all the voters want totally fresh faces... I believe many more voters actually want somebody with experience as president.

4. Minority Outreach - Hillary was in the White House with Bill Clinton "The First Black President" (right or wrong, some people actually called him that). Right or wrong, a lot of Black voters seem to remember the Clinton years fondly, and remain loyal to the Clintons. Hillary also seems to have the more-clearly liberal immigration policy (Bernie seems more protectionist when it comes to Unions). I'm not saying Bernie is bad on minority issues, just that Hillary can edge him out with some voters here. Note: I apologize for lumping "minorities" together, hopefully I haven't offended anyone. As I write this, it strikes me as a bit ham-fisted. Sorry.

Correct, for example "perception" plays a big part in elections (and in my topic) (NT) PBass Aug 2015 #5

with different groups of voters who may cross over - perhaps independents.

It is going to be a really interesting and complex primary season, as well as election.

#1 ... I think the "nuance" will work in Bernie's favor.
#2 ... Hillary has the edge simply being of the fairer sex.
#3 ... Hillary has high exposure but Bernie has the actual length & breadth of experience.
#4 ... The edge Hillary currently has going for her is familiarity. Obama was way behind too in 2007 for the same reason as Bernie. Over time, Bernie will win a good chunk of the vote of POC.

Because she's a woman?
Sarah Palin's a woman, but I'd hate to see her become President.
