Went to the Minnesota State Fair Yesterday to Work for Bernie.

The whole place was completely dominated by Bernie supporters. We had so many volunteers that I gracefully bowed out after walking around at the fair in the hot sun. Looking forward to the March caucuses, which I think will be a landslide. It especially feels good to see so many young people involved. This will bring a lot of fresh blood into the DFL, hopefully at the precinct, congressional.district, and state level. I was thinking of working it up to the state level, but after seeing this I feel really good passing the torch to the next generation.
For those of you not familiar with the Minnesota caucus system, its a long and involved process with four layers of delegate selection and is the final decider.

This campaign is rolling, it's done it without big bucks, and will win. That is all.

Dear xxxx,

I wanted to introduce you to someone. She’s spent decades fighting for middle class families in public service. She knows her way around the Department of State pretty well. Right now, she’s doing a little traveling to meet people and get her name out there.

She’s running for President. I don’t know if you have heard of her. Hillary Clinton.

Ok, so Hillary really needs no introduction.

Right now, she's working to build her official campaign list. Today, I’m asking you to join.

Hillary has been working with Team Franken from the very beginning. When the polls were close back in 2008, weeks before the election, Hillary made a trip to Minnesota to help.

Hillary has always fought for middle class families, and she’s come out of the gate swinging in this campaign. She’s already demanded a constitutional amendment to reverse Citizens United. She’s laid out a bold vision to build the economy -- one focused on improving the lives of working families, not padding corporate profits.

Hillary has always been on our side. Like us, she’s committed to building the middle class. And like us, she can only win if she’s got a huge grassroots network fighting beside her.

Don’t miss your chance to join Hillary's OFFICIAL campaign list. All you have to do is click here.

This is going to be a long race. Some media reports it could cost up to $4 BILLION. Things can change faster than you can blink.

You don’t want to be left out of the loop. So take 30 seconds to sign up for Hillary’s official updates. You won’t be disappointed.

Thank you.

Al

I wrote back (though I'm sure nobody read the email) something to the effect of, thanks but no thanks; I'm supporting Bernie. Then last week I got this one:

Dear xxxx,

My good friend Hillary Clinton is going to be in town this Friday and I want to make sure you don't miss her.

She's going to be in downtown Minneapolis addressing the General Session of the DNC Summer Meeting at the Minneapolis Hilton. Democrats from all over the country will be in attendance and taking part in this exciting event -- and you could be too.

In order to secure a ticket to her address, you must register in person at the Minneapolis Hilton on Thursday morning starting at 8am. Because tickets are limited, they are encouraging folks to arrive early by 7am.

You can also RSVP to pre-register for your ticket and attend Hillary's remarks on Friday by clicking here.

This is going to be a great event.

Our family and Al go back many years, number one Son did some writing for him and they do get into some interesting e-mails. Still have the guy's back, all we can do is prod him a bit. Had to take our name off his e-mail list, others would horn in a beg for dollars. My spouse and I have always gave the max to his endeavors cause he is the real deal.

I haven't run into a bunch of volunteers, yet, but it seems everyone I spoke with was either leaning toward Bernie or already supporting him. And it's every age group and people of all colors.

I did speak to quite a few that weren't familiar with him but they were very interested in what I told them. People are really sick of the oligarchs and money in politics.

simply because people are coming in from all over the state, so you can get them in one place! Our state had its state fair earlier this month (Illinois). Our local PDA chapter (Progressive Democrats of America) had a table set up and was handing out literature & registering people. I wore my Bernie shirt when I went there with some friends and got quite a few compliments and people asking where I got my shirt. Its very encouraging!

This is the ultimate in grassroots...and there should be fairs going on all over the country in the months to come...I'll just bet there will be Team Bernie folks at all of them.

I've seen posts for various events in the Los Angeles area for going out with flyers...really cool.

The same people (who shall remain nameless) now saying polls don't matter (when Bernie is doing well)
will say caucuses don't matter (when Bernie does well).

"What difference does it make?"

If anyone is interested, I did a night, available light (no flash), photo essay on the Minnesota State Fair in 2006
with a Nikon D-200 and a Nikon 50mm very fast prime lens.
