Don't think for a second the evangelical right wing won't vote for Romney because he is Mormon.

Why I do this is for another topic. But at night when Im trying to sleep I sometimes listen to a podcast of The Bible Answer Man with Hank Hanegraaff. It's basically a call in radio show where Hank answers bible questions and sneaks in a promotion for one of his many books with virtually every call he takes. Anyway, for the past week I recall at least 3 separate questions he has taken regarding Mitt Romney. He quickly points out that Mormonism isn't Christianity and its wrong, etc. But he then says that when faced with a choice between two evils he picks the lesser of the two and that he himself while it might be difficult could vote for Romney. One caller took exception to the idea of voting for a mormon by saying Obama is the one who actually believes Jesus is the son of God. Hanks reply was some quotes from one of Obamas books that he claims show Obama misunderstands the bible.

If anybody would like to listen for themselves, he starts talking about mormonism around the 20:00 minute mark and the caller I describe above around the 26:00 minute mark.

When it comes to the Evangelical vote I believe that, when push comes to shove, they will fall in line behind the GOP candidate in November regardless of who he is. And it doesn't matter if he is a Mormon or a thrice-married serial adulterer. Their anti-Obama sentiment will trump any misgivings they will have for the GOP candidate.

We can't get complacent and assume that these people will stay home on election day. They will hold their noses and vote if they are forced to.

I think you give the president too much weight in the evangelical vote. The truth is they consistently vote against Democratic presidential candidates. Years of right wing BS has them trained. They are against most of what we stand for. They are anti-us too.

Now when we couple the Mormon thing with his reputation as a Massachusetts moderate, the enthusiasm might be dampened a little bit and he might lose some votes but over all they will support him. There might even be less religious right foot soldiers driving people to the poll. But they will still back him.

but I still think some of the crazier ones won't and that 7%-8% could make all the difference..also it's one thing to go to the poll and vote..it's another thing to publicly be enthusiastic and support the guy and work for him and I hink that's where Pres. Obama will have a big advantage in he fall!

All that is necessary here is for little bits of Mormon dogma (such as baptizing the dead) to keep plopping out between now and election day. The more the curtains come back and the lunatic cult is revealed, the less the Bible thumpers are going to want to show up at the polls.

Even having Romney as the Rethug nominee legitimizes this religion, and they cannot afford that. The difference is the missionaries, Mormons go around trying to convert folks, adulterers and African-Americans don't do that.

But it will come out during the General Election. I think he will struggle with those voters here. I'll put it this way, The ones who voted with Obama in the last election will more than likely stay with him.

Romney will win the evangelical vote, just as McCain did in 2008. However, what really helped Bush in some states during both his elections was the overwhelmingly energetic evangelical vote. Romney will struggle getting those voters out at the levels Bush did, especially in 2004.

So, he doesn't have to lose the vote to actually lose and while most evangelicals will get behind him because they're anti-Obama, a few will just sit this election out and all it takes is a few to lose a close state like Virginia or North Carolina.

that's just how it is. Understand that LDS is the competition here and in other countries, the evangelicals do not care for Mormons. Some will get past that. Lots will not.

We need to go into this election with the notion that all pieces of the rethug puzzle, evangelicals, militias, far right Cubans and the angry racist white vote will be out to vote for Mittens in droves. We need to leave all woulda, coulda, shoulda and I told you so's off the table. We cannot afford to lose this election, its just as important, if not more than in 08. I get sick at the thought of rethug/teabagger celebration on election night, no way, no how, we have to fight!!
