If Hillary Clinton loses the General election, what is the future of the Democratic Party?

I was wondering tonight, If Hillary Clinton loses the General election to Donald Trump (yes, folks Trump is a contender), or a Jeb Bush or a Marco Rubio, where does the direction of the Democratic Party go from there? Who leads the Democratic Party into the 2018 and 2020 elections? Cory Booker? Elizabeth Warren? Maria Cantwell? Bernie Sanders? What would be the future of the Clinton legacy?

And screw the 'clinton legacy' like it screwed the middle class. The Clinton Legacy was nafta, special relations w china, and the repeal of glass steagall.

That use of pro-life is bullshit. I volunteer at Planned Parenthood and know the "pro-lifers".
I don't need an anti-woman president, thank you very much.

if having them is so undemocratic? I know, I know, no sense in put our democratic values on display, it only cheapens them.

And who said anything about a coronation? Now nomination, well, we're not going to agree, are we?

even if we won the Senate, I feel sure the right wing would continue to dig our hole even deeper: Not just because today's GOP is totally corrupted, but because the right's strong conservative ideology is inherently incompetent to run a large, diverse nation they fear and don't understand in an era of rampant change they fear, don't understand, and refuse to use constructively.

Thus, our problems would only become worse and our citizenry would only become angrier and more unhappy, even as yearning for sensible, progressive action to make this country great again grew.

Setting us up for 2018 and 2020. The next census isn't supposed to make a Democratic majority in the House obtainable until 2022, but the winds are blowing so strong I wouldn't be entirely surprised if it happened even this time around. IF Democrats and left-leaning independents turn out in larger numbers than our usual irresponsible performance, it really could happen.

Our candidates would be people we don't know the names of now. (Note that Warren's 66 now, sad as that reality is. She has said no to the presidency.)

But on the happier side: By 2020, yet more of the most backwards of today's rapidly aging GOP/TP base will either have dropped dead or be too interested in picking at the lint on their napkins to remember what year it is.
