Related: About this forumSpiel - the latest word used in an attempt to smear Sanders
as just another politician.
I noticed this word popping up lately in articles about Sanders.
Spiel has a negative connotation.
spiel - a long or fast speech or story, typically one intended as a means of persuasion or as an excuse but regarded with skepticism or contempt by those who hear it.
This reminded me of when my child at 5 watched a program that was intended to make children feel comfortable and accepting of gays. They brought up a derogatory word used against gays and he said something along the lines of " - Another bad word! Do they just sitting around thinking up bad words....
Kids are so smart...

How about that Spiel in the form of a conference on the ' Bankruptcy of Greece ' or his 12 point plan for America, or his Real history on Race, Feminism, or one of three members of Congress to tell us about the TPP .

Origin
late 19th century: from German Spiel a game.
What struck me is that I know spiel to be a German word and that is interesting given who Bernie is. Is there even another level to this? Perhaps not. Perhaps so.

I wonder if it first came to Germany and was adopted or if it went the other way.
But I learnt the word first from Glockenspiel for a particular type of clock..that plays..
So they use a word that can dog whistle twice, just so they get their point across....hmm
