Clinton: Did not use personal e-mail server to evade FOIA

Politico: Hillary Clinton: 'Another conspiracy theory'

She rejected the notion that her decision to use a personal email server as secretary of state was meant to evade public records searches, noting that congressional investigators unearthed many of her emails before she released them because they were obtainable through public systems. She acknowledged, however, the “drip, drip, drip” of accusations leveled at her, but couldn’t guarantee when they would stop.

“There’s only so much I can control,” she said, characterizing her responses as entailing “more transparency and more information than anybody I’m aware of that’s ever served in the government.”

She used a personal email server, she said, because her husband, former President Bill Clinton, had set it up in their house after leaving office.

This is the heart of why there's a legitimate email server story burred in the right wing witch hunt looking for any morsel of information that would make Mrs. Clinton look bad.

Mrs. Clinton has not offered a reasonable explanation of why she exclusively used a private email server, and this has become a problem as the government attempts to respond to FOIA requests.

The argument that setting up and maintaining a separate server, and exclusively using that server was more convenient is ridiculous and manifestly untrue.

You know like, maybe not using a private e-mails server to conduct your work e-mails as Secretary of State?

She keeps giving this story legs.

http://www.nytimes.com/2015/09/26/us/politics/string-of-emails-raises-questions-about-when-hillary-clinton-began-using-personal-account.html

Mrs. Clinton has said that she retained no emails from her first two months in office because she used an account that she no longer has access to. She has said that on March 19, 2009, she began using the personal account — hdr22@clintonemail.com — that she relied on for the rest of her time in office.

But on Friday, State Department officials said they had been given copies of an email chain between Mrs. Clinton and David H. Petraeus, the commander of United States Central Command at the time, that shows that Mrs. Clinton was using the hdr22@clintonemail.com account by Jan. 28, 2009.

Did Clinton swear when she left office in 2013 that she had turned over all records?

Some observers asked after the revelation of the server’s existence if Clinton had signed the department’s standard “separation statement,” in which she would have had to swear she had complied with records laws. The State Department says she didn’t sign.

She did whatever she wanted, and assumed she would never pay a price for that. David Petraeus got dinged for signing that separation statement falsely, when he left the CIA, BTW. Apparently she saw that and never signed it. So very ethical, she is.

did you even bother to read the stuff you quoted from your link. It states, clearly and unambiguously, that the server was ALREADY SET UP BY BILL CLINTON BEFORE SHE BECAME SECRETARY OF STATE. So she didn't SET UP A SERVER WHEN SHE BECAME SECRETARY OF STATE.

True, the server had already been set up. That said Mrs. Clinton paid people for the ongoing maintenance of the server and her defense was she did this so she wouldn't have to carry multiple devices.

I stand by my analysis. There's nothing more convenient than using the State Department's servers with its own IT staff ensuring security and policy conformance. There hasn't been an explanation put forth as to why she not only maintained a private server and used that server exclusively.

I'm willing to entertain an explanation other than it was to defeat transparency, but no credible explanation has been put forth. It's hard to see any reason other than to impede access to her records.

Again, there is legitimately a right wing witch hunt to discredit Mrs. Clinton. That doesn't absolve her of bad governance and not being honest.
