A few days ago, one of the frequent contributors ( I use that term loosely) to our local op-ed page singled me out as one of the four liberal offenders whose letters in support of President Obama appear too often in the local rag. The few letters I have written this year were in support of our sister city program and not at all political. Thanks to this ass hat, I'm back on board. My first salvo:
"For some time now I have refrained from writing political letters to the editor. One of the Tribunes frequent contributors from the right gave me a personal shout out in a recent diatribe against liberals expressing their opinions. I hadnt realized that my message was getting through but, with that bit of encouragement, Ill weigh in on this election.
The election so far seems to be characterized by blatant distortions of the truth and obscene campaign contributions. Lacking a candidate they truly believe in, the Republican Party seems intent on making their case by taking the Presidents words out of context or just making stuff up. Thats normal for American elections but this time they have much more money available to spread the fertilizer.
The ultra wealthy who find democracy an inconvenience are attempting to buy this election. If they succeed, the less affluent party faithful who are on board for the wedge issues, guns, God and gays, will soon find that, with a fully loaded Supreme Court and state voter suppression laws in place, their votes will no longer be needed. In fact, they will no longer be needed."
