Politico: Bernie Sanders vs. the Lamestream MediaJACK SHAFER
Nor have Sanders ideas about mediaespecially what he calls the corporate mediawavered since he entered Vermont politics in the 1970s. In his view, the media tends to trivialize the important issues if it covers them at all. It wants to cover campaign fights, not campaign debates. It over-relies on entertaining soundbites. Its news agenda is about generating profits, not producing quality journalism that will educate the voters. And as powerful as the corporate media is, it seeks even more concentrated power through acquisition and consolidation.
The corporate media talks about all kinds of issues except the more important issues, Sanders said, hitting the trivialization check-box. And time after time, Im being asked to criticize Hillary Clinton. Thats the sport that you guys like, he continued.

I love it. It describes the corporate media conglomerates exactly. I've got no problem stealing it and re-purposing it.

(14,174 posts)Which I kind of suspected. Its way too clever for her to have thought up. After a bit of Googling I found that it was first coined in 1999, in the Wall Street Journal (pre-Murdoch). And in all honesty, is there a better pun to describe the MSM?

The term "Main Stream Media" was revolutionary in itself when it was first used. Implying a kind of news industry catered to the Mr. and Mrs. Average American. That it was becoming generic as ownership became more and more concentrated into a few hands.
"Lame Stream Media" (If you can forget one moment who made the term popular) builds on that trope. It implies that not only are the corporate media keeping the message palatable pablum for the masses consumption, but they have now sunk even further (when comparing them to the rise of more solid information one can get on the internet) and have deteriorated into limping useless shells of pretend journalism. Which, by definition, puts Fox News at the top of list of Lame Stream news organizations.
Dictionary.com gives the interpretation:
"the traditional media such as newspapers, television, and radio, considered by some people as old-fashioned and gullible when compared to online news sources such as blogs"

Clinton is also any ally against the corporate media, and look what they have been trying to do to her!
THIS is the number one common enemy above all else.....a controlled media, it is an abomination to a democracy.
